@@xgullafter9590 You'd be surprise how "cheap" farms can be, you could get 3-100 hectare for the price of a 100-200m² house in a city... The thing is doing the work or having to deal with leasing the land to other farmers, but it's actually pretty cheap to get a house if you're willing to get something older and further off the city, by further I just mean 30min-2 hour drive depending on the country my reference is Norway. We were looking onto buying a house so we could rent our current house, and it was $165k in the center of a small town for 1000m² plot and 190m² house, or $44k half an hour away 15 hectare 350m². It's not "cheap" but the farms can actually be paid off in cash, while city houses and apartments require you to basically have that amount of cash before you even get the loan... this way we could take a smaller loan to have a tinny buffer zone for repairs and miscellaneous for 2-3 years. It's not for everybody, but I don't understand why people would pay 100-600k for a house in the city, when you could get that much more land and real estate (because that land can have building permits) for half the price. Also in Norway (probably in other countries too) they have a tax man giving a price on the lot and often you'll see houses go for 100-200k and they'll have a tax value of 50-60k... while the farms are more often then not priced at the same tax value of bellow (if really old). So yeah M E's point is still valid if you're not like "yah I got a house in Dubai, Paris, New York".

@@svampebob007 Is it difficult to find tenant farmers?
@svampebob0074 жыл бұрын
@@pneron2032 That really depends on the place you get, some farming area are super friendly and it's be relatively easy to find a farmer that want to expand their production but couldn't afford investing more time/money in more land/a house, while other places have intense inter family feuds, and it would probably be harder to find a tenant that would agree to farm there without facing backlash. In general Farmers are still running a business and if you make a good business proposal to them they would most likely putt any issue a side and do what's right. The last example is just my experience growing up in a farming village of 300 people where there was literally a bridge separating the two main family of the village and they fought about everything and anything, but they were welcoming to strangers, I don't know how they ran their farms since we moved out when I was a teenager.

It's very easy in Britain to be "segregated" by "social class". It's only at university I would say that more mixing happens, (not in halls though due to price differences, but in the courses) maybe in grammar schools too but I didn't attend one so I can't be sure. In comprehensive school we all come from the same catchment area, hence very segregated by parent's income depending on the school. In private school most of them (not on scholarship) their parents can afford it so it's another world(top 3%). In grammar schools I would say it's on average upper middle class (top 30%).
