I read in a book that talks also about Tibet monks stories , based on a true story, that one master monk says lions actually lived in Tibet. They were very big mountain lions and now they’re completely extinct. Unfortunately there is nothing about in the internet

Gang sengye ga-ung Sing-gay Ga-ung means mountain Sing-gay means lion. So basically mountain lion. The lion is also considered a symbol of luck along with the flying white horse, dragon, Garuda(half bird(eagle), half man) and tiger.

This lion is not a mythical creature. It's called us 'Yali' in tamil Nadu, southern india. The animal is a very ferocious creature, and they were used as a war weapons by ancient Tamil kingdoms. Now they are extinct creature. If you need more evidence, visit any south india temple.

The lions just like Cheetahs existed in India, they were Asiatic lions, you can still find them in the Gir forest of Gujarat.
