I was SO impressed with this bike! Especially for under £800 there's a special code on their site about how to get it under 800 but if that ever goes you can use EVRC to save too.

I've got the fafrees f20 . I think it's an amazing bike for the price, plus, they responded very quickly, and sent me a new seat post clamp and charger, which i hadn't asked for really, just general enquiries about them. It is worth mentioning that the cells in the batteries are, i believe, very good quality 21700 cells. These bikes have been flying under the radar a bit. All the best.

If assistance doesn't cease at 15.5 mph then it most certainly is NOT legal in the UK. You modify it and you cease to be legal.

It's bigger brother, the Fafrees F20 Max has a much bigger battery 48V 22.5AH and a 500W motor, gonna review it in the future?

Have you tested the Engwe engine x yet? I am going to buy that or this Fafrees as I want a legal folding ebike for the back of my campervan. I'm a fair bit heavier than you so the bike needs to be capable & robust.

To get it unlocked do you have to whenholding the brake and throttle do you have to have it in no three top assist when doing the holding down?

I've got an Urbanbiker Mini, which is very similar but minus the thumb throttle and flashy display; my mum is 5ft 1in and she can ride it with the seat at the lowest setting.

How is it legal? Especially in the UK? All E-bikes that go faster than 15.5mph is illegal. Pedal assist should cut off one it hits 15.5mph and as for the throttle unless it's been DVSA certified it's not legal either... The Pedibal Ecruza and Navigator are the first two fully legal E-bikes with a throttle but they are individually registered with the DVSA. Sorry if I sound a wee bit aggressive, it's not intentionally I'm just curious and the autism may make what I say sound worse than I really mean it

You are correct. This bike is only legal until the switch is hit. If you are riding this on a UK road you are breaking the law if the motor does not cut out at 15.5mph.

Hi, is there any chance you can review bikes under all conditions when.. a) legal and b) unlocked ? I'm not concerned with speed but there are some long, steep hills where i live in the peak district and i dont know if a legal bike would cope. I enjoy your videos but i'm new to ebikes and i'm never quite sure when you are riding legal or unlocked. Year to aug 11 the police seized 937 ebikes accross the UK, so for me personally the risk of unlocking is just not worth it.

Dunno if you saw the whole vid but hill climbs aren't really effected by whether they are locked or unlocked. A high torque powerful bike locked to 15.5 will still easily go up hills. Just like this low power bike unlocked for speed still couldn't get up the hill. If you check my video for the Cyrusher Ovia. There were 2 videos. The first was locked the second unlocked. It still got a great time up the hill when locked. Sounds like you need something like the Ovia. Hard locked to 15.5 and maybe with throttle deactivated.

@@kdscrapping4452 quite often brands use it to lock and unlock the bike speed and throttle. Just hold down throttle and brake when turning on the bike and hold for 15 seconds. Repeat to relock 👍

@@denniscarr8194 there's only 2 steps. Hold brake and throttle whilst off..turn on. Keep held for 15 seconds. Let go.

@@ramborambokitchenkitchen6357 the Duotts is more powerful. And overall you'll go faster on it as it has 21 gears. The Fafrees is more of a hop on hop off fun ride that has potential to go pretty fast.

Hydraulics are essential the mechanical brakes fail often. Death trap... easy to do £140 for Shimano fitted.

Disconnect the throttle and don't unlock then it's legal. Most the big brands that sell on the high street can be unlocked. Mopeds and 125 motorbikes can be 'unlocked' to circumvent power restrictions.

Just to be clear if the engine does not stop assisting you at 15.5mph you have a moped or motorcycle and are breaking the law. You are driving without tax and and insurance and the bike is not registered.

@@e-VRC I think you will find that the metal bracket that the battery slides down in the Engwe l20 se is slack .Tighten it up so that you get full contact with the pins at the bottom .It made a great difference on mine when i got it .I was thinking there was something wrong with the battery on mine until i did this and there was a surge in power and speed.
