Amazing these gm LS motors can produce that amount of power all these yrs I’ve bin dumping money into old school sbc engines just to get into the 12s!! So hard to believe you can get over a 1000 hp on a almost stock bone yard motor! Awesome videos keep ‘‘em coming!

I'm hoping to build a 800 HP 4.8...what year 4.8s would be considered 4th Gen?
@mitchellstanton28643 жыл бұрын
this thing is absolutely bananas. Definitely wouldnt expect 1000hp... except for the giant stack lol. Sick channel and vids!
@HorsepowerDepot3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The stack is only temporary. We have to move the radiator to gain room to put the 5 inch exhaust out the bottom.

@@HorsepowerDepot can you get the 1000 plus HP at 7200 ish rpm and i wonder if it could handle more power at lower rpm and last longer🤔

Excellent ride & video! ❤ Love shock looking vehicles! Sleepers have always had a spot in my heart! Love low budget builds as well. Is this a 4.8? Or have you found out or do you not care! Ha! ✌

Maybe I missed it but what's the weight? Pretty similar setup to my Capri and it weighs close to 3300lbs. It's a 5.3 with a billet 80. Been 8.50s on 30psi

3600 with a driver. Hasn’t been out with this setup. But with 820 hp it went 9.14.

Is it still good at this power level? How's it holding up? Did it run some good numbers on the traxk?
@HorsepowerDepot2 жыл бұрын
It made it a whole season after this video. Then it got taken apart and is still being worked on. The 4.8 still runs and is waiting for the new turbo setup. It went 8.90s at like 156 weighing 3700 pounds.
@ALEX.THE.RUSSIAN2 жыл бұрын
@@HorsepowerDepot wow!!! You guys raced often? This is incredible! I have a gen 3 block just like yours transition year or what ever it's called with gen 4 rods and pistons and it's a 6.0 iron block. With very light car, like 3k pounds with me In it or 3100 max, you think we can make 900 or so whp and hit 8.8 or something?

I'd love to see the intercooler details- where is it? How's it plumbed?
@HorsepowerDepot3 жыл бұрын
We will be redoing the intercooler plumbing and will show it on the channel. But as of now it’s a 4 inch vs racing intercooler and 3 inch pipes with about 8 rubber couplers holding the pipes together lol.

We’ve been doing this for years, and many others much more advance than us have been doing it for longer. It’s really not anything special to make 1000 with a stock ls engine. And they will last for a long time if the tune is good. Thanks for watching!

@@HorsepowerDepot that's true it is an LS, its amazing how nowadays we throw around numbers like 1000hp like it's nothing, back in the day that was a built up bored out stroked fuckin supercharged nitrous fed small block 350 haha now it's like 1k hp doesnt even tickle the hair on the LS's balls lmfaoo
