Hi, While I can not comment on how hard it is to get into the University of Tokyo, I would suggest you do the following to increase your chances: 1. Work on your research theme and connect it well to your current work 2. Showcase your abilities in your application and interview on how you plan to help both your home country (e.g. India) and Japan through your research 3. Find out relevant labs in your field in your desired university and reach out to the professor. Don't just write an introductory email, but treat it more like a cover letter where you explain why you're interested in the field and why you're a good fit! Usually, MEXT is competitive (In my year, 2500 applications came in and only 25 people got it via Embassy Recommendation) but by customizing your profile, you increase your chances of getting selected. Hope it helps! All the best.

@@shripriyamaheshwari ^_^ thank you for the concern di , i know that my chances are thin because i dont have jplt scores neither i know japanese all i have is my plan and idea of developing an advanced nuclear defense system that can beat syria i am looking for mext because japans tech is very good compared to india . also being a typical indian student my parents never get me to involved in research work too much i am thinking to let go of mext now , after all i can also choose IIT by jee advanced also my profile is not that much good because i scored 83 in 10th 86 in 11th and in 12th something like 90 ( i assumed) but i am at apex in terms of physics i am very much confused whether to apply for mext or not because the embassies are very far away from my home
