Linux Mint still cannot span wallpapers correctly on dual monitors. It resizes the image (even if its dimensions are the width of both monitors combined) and has black bars on half of each side of the monitor. I don't know why they can't get that to work correctly. In GNOME it is possible. Of course KDE can't even give the option; it's as if KDE doesn't even know you have two monitors. Setting the wallpaper background only applies it to the monitor you have the dialog box open on.

The concept is cool, but maybe you should had tested other Distros that have the "vanilla" install. For example, Ubuntu uses a lot of custom options for Gnome, and it behaves differently, so Arch or Fedora in that case?. Also tty will behave differently depending on which graphics driver you load, if you use KMS or not... I might have it wrong with the Gnome thing tho, as I don't use Gnome or Ubuntu to test if what you did is different or not.
