I just appreciate when bikers actually use the etiquette. I walk on a trail at lunch a lot where there's bikers and pedestrians alike and it's rare when someone gives the verbal warning or uses a bell.

yeah I’ll chuck an “on your right” sometimes. some people do “overtaking.” mostly just bells though and people know what’s up. saying which side can be handy if it’s going to be ambiguous for some reason- like a group that’s spread across the path

I live in a high tourist area, and most of them are a blend of "the startled" and "the indecisive". It's lethal! I stopped saying things and ringing my bell as their reaction often caused more danger than their initial walk path. So I treat them all as "the headphones", and am just patient behind them until an opening happens.
