This will cause American casualties. To counter this we must: 1. Establish AI algorithms to identify fake news. 2. Create AI chatbots that could act as the official source of information. 3. Ryan McBeth: "Imagine if a foreign agent used misinformation to direct people into a fire". Oh you mean like what happened in Maui when the police blocked escape routs and people died in a fire due to it? Search Associated Press In a deadly Maui fires, many had no warning and no way out. Those dodged a barricade survived. Rather than directing people to a fire, the government blocked escape paths and those who ignored it and ran the barricades survived.

You are really stretching the government propaganda lines in the opening portion of this. First, the same things that prevent helicopters from crashing into each any other time with high traffic is what prevents these helicopters from doing so. These aren't random people renting helicopters and flying them. Also, the pilot knew about prop wash and landing and could have picked a better spot. But they didn't. There isn't a specific place to lsnd VTOL aircraft. Second, as is their second amendment right- yet you somehow dismiss government refusing services because of a right being exercised as something it can do. Can the government refuse services to you because you use your right of free speech and the press in a way that makes them uncomfortable? You need to take a step back and examine your position a little better.

There are problems up there. There problem being the establishment of a proper chain of command. The whole thing is a cluster fk because nobody knows who is in charge so everybody is trying to take charge of their local arias and local sheriff are confiscating supplies from groups who were more well established than the sheriff's. Rather than work with them the sheriff walked off with about 20 generators at 10pm that were already slated to go out to residents over the next 24 hours. They have had to use the national guard as a go between to keep the peace. Yes this information is second hand but I know the guys I was passing supplies though.

I've had a lot of respect for you for telling the truth in the Ukraine conflict. I'm starting to wonder now if I still carry that level of respect. You're basically saying that about a dozen content creators I watch are liars. I've watched videos by Liberty Doll, who has personal contacts on the ground in NC, that sound like the level of horrendous Hawaii response. She has one video about a local group calling themselves "The Redneck Airforce". Whether by design, or incompetence, that group is doing FAR more, and FAR better, than the government at helping the residents of NC. Liberty Doll is not alone. Many people have videos of some horrible incompetence. Or of Guardsmen or other emergency responders saying they are camped out in hotel rooms waiting for orders, but not being sent to do anything. And don't quote Colbert at me, he is a shill. FEMA's own website has declarations of how they have spent funds on illegal immigrants, according to many creators I listen to. I looked myself, and while there is language about being a non-citizen, much of it is about being a resident of somewhere that is a US Territory, like Puerto Rico, Guam, etc. I cannot confirm what I have heard in this case.... EDIT: Rum, bleach and fabric softener as hand sanitizer? I dunno about the fabric softener, but rum contains alcohol, and bleach is well, bleach. Sounds pretty effective to me. Might eff your hands up and make your skin peel, but sounds to me like they'd be clean.

I live in Santa Rosa, CA and we experienced wildfires within the city and suburbs in 2017, 2018, and 2020. What the local PD and FD did is use a service called NIXLE to provide information directly to cell phones. They have diversified that a bit, but residents that were here for that are 100% subscribed to local PD and FD channels. This includes the ability to broadcast evacuation notices via cell phones. These show up primarily as texts, but emergency notifications also cause your phone to siren. One thing I have learned about natural disasters (I was also in Hurricane Andrew), is that you are NOT in control. Expect things to take a long time. Last year I was talking to people that are finally getting rebuilds done after 2017. Fundamentally, we want instant response with lots of resources and things to get fixed instantly. That is just not the way things work.

Exactly! I remember when a hurricane hit in Florida maybe 10-15 years ago we were out of power for a month in a pretty wealthy suburb so I can’t even imagine how long it took for other folks. Expect nothing from the government for at least a week or two after a major disaster and be ready.

@@trusttheprocess5618 For Wildfires you have to drive fire trucks hundreds of miles to get them in place. The military has the advantage that they have the stuff to logistics an expeditionary force. It takes time for that stuff to get there - even with planes and helicopters. And then they have to do it day after day for however long it takes. It is a huge effort and needs to be highly coordinated. For Andrew, we had 250,000 homeless overnight. Imagine the work to feed, clothe, house, and care for that number of people for months.

That is a way to keep free speech but alert the reader of any misdirection. @ryanmcbethprogramming rewatching this video, I have a recommendation regarding the first to letters in your MAGIC acronym, to make it a little easier to remember and communicate: M - Mission (goal or objective) A - Audience (Acquire the target) G - Generate (its not a party without chips and DIP) I - Infiltrate ( rhymes with Generate, so this is already perfect) C - Catalyze (when everything comes together and BOOM) Anyway, love your work. Keep it up. Try not to travel during the election maybe, as we dont need the McBeth travel curse to add to the chaos to come 😊

Chances are extremely thin Dems can keep the senate. And the right-wing propaganda machine has been built up for decades, so this misinformation game plan has already been prepping for a fight for their right to spread disinformation. There is. You can yell fire in a crowded theater. You can’t tell rescue workers someone is drowning when they are not. 1st amendment does have its limitations, if a group with power and money did want to challenge this in court, if going by precedent, it would likely fall under the same regulations. But under the current SCOTUS now is likely not the time to bring this up. This is why we need Harris to win. If she can rebalance SCOTUS that will be the only way we have a chance to save this country.

I find it so funny that americans are so quick to abandon their gospel of the constitution when they have enemies to fight. The American experiment and dream have both failed. Man is tribal and the american empire has failed as the romans had failed to integrate the tribes. And I say good this tower of Babel has raged on for too long. It is time for it to be divided amongst lingual and tribal bounds once more. Still though it was the most strongest empire around, one must give that credit. it was able to conquer foreign lands and only lost because it did not believe in itself to conquer fully.

Something similar happened in my coutry Czech republic. Meteorologist were warning about big storm and subsequent heavy rains roughly week before, but many politicians from far-left and far-right populists were critical about prediction, calling it hysteria and "scaring people". Thankfully hydrologists heeded warning and started draining dams and other water reservoirs. Then after several days it started pouring. Many people were reluctant to evacuate even after several days of heavy rain. Many people were reluctant to relocate their cars and valuables/apliances somewhere else because they were brainwashed to thinking that government is trying to scare them. Of course nobody was to this day punished for this.

@@Sammysapphira It is not unfounded at all. We are on election year, it is super easy to look up how many false stories Trump promotes vs how many Harris promotes. Trump represents, as a presidential candidate, the average conservative. Harris, the average democrat. By their talking points you can gauge pretty easily how often conservatives are spreading and believing disinformation. Let me give you an example. Abortion. Harris is using Texan abortion ban to get democrats riled up. A real law that exists in a real conservative state that tends to set the trend for conservative policy making. Trump is saying democrats demand post-birth abortions. If that were true, California would have a law allowing that. Since California is a democrat majority state that tends to set the trend for democrat policy making. But that simply does not exist. No state in the Union has, had, or has tried to pass that law. Trump still repeated it during both presidential debates.

I'm here commenting before watching the video to give my answer to the question. The main problem is the lack of trust. In the government and the media. Incompetence, greed and selfish reasons made people loose trust in these institutions and allowed ground for bad actors, who are doing essentially the same things for the same reasons, but are viewed as more legitimate as they are more accessible. If we accept this reasoning, then the solution is basically winning hearts and minds. Being present in the community, putting a face in front of the institution to build rapport and trust.

Originally the Czech word "robota" meaning "forced labor" or "servitude", this was used by playwright Karel Čapek to refer to machines in his play R.U.R., what we would later call "robots". Bot farms aren't full of robots in the AI sense, but rather use automation software to let one human control myriad artificial "bot" accounts.

Maybe fema is handling it better now but I’ve heard of problems with fema not giving clothes or blankets, and towns surviving without fema. Ryan’s rotor wash comments show how much of a mess it is up there and FEMA didn’t win trust in their roll out

He has stated in the past that trump will support Ukraine yet all trump does is praise Putin and bash Ukraine. His party held up funding for Ukraine for 6 months but attempted to give aid to Israel only (I support both Israel and Ukraine to be clear) and JD Vance has stated that they will give land to Russia as part of a peace deal. That is not supporting Ukraine that is capitulation. The idea that a trump administration is equally good for Ukraine as a Kamala administration (Biden when Ryan made this claim) is completely baseless. I think Ryan doesn’t want to go after one side too much in fear of being seen as biased but when it’s republicans constantly lying and putting politics over national security it needs to be called out regardless.

Love love love love Ryan mcbeth and agree with almost everything you say. However, I believe that the only real way to fight misinformation is not by relying on the government, but to educate ourselves and to train ourselves to either not believe anything you see on the internet until you do your own research, or to just not have the problematic apps in the first place, not through direct government intervention. I'd say that this is my point of view towards a lot of topics, but for this one specifically I feel like it's the most true.

@@HicSvntDracones I started to list several in my head and then realized that you can look at pretty much any politician talking about military action and it will include lies. Or look at the original description of every large government funded project and compare it to the results and you will see that the original description when it passed was wildly wrong and usually known at the time to be false. Look at the Pentagon Papers and what Edward Snowden leaked. Trump, Fauci, Biden, etc lying about some aspect or other about Covid or the vaccine. I'm not talking about conspiracy but real proven fabrications that are just glossed over with time. The list of lies our government tells is endless. My point is not that the government always lies, but pointing at the government and saying "you can get the facts from them" as if it's simply "true" is naive, certainly more naive than Ryan is.

I still think its odd that the only video I personally saw of a helicopter struggling to land was a military heli. Agreed that they are huge and create hurricane strength winds in a non ground effect hover using 100% of its power. Just think a machine piloted by 2 pilots would have done several fly arounds to determine that a landing would or would not be possible.. and were the people at the LZ supposed to have been setting up a landing zone? I never heard that once.. I think it needs more research before writing it iff that simply.. thanks for all you do..

As AI imagery becomes harder to identify when tasked with higher fidelity printing, DIP will become far more dangerous. One of the easiest ways to immediately dispel the momentum of a DIP campaign is when you can point to the original source of the image and help people understand that the original context is being manipulated or outright ignored. There’s no reverse image search for AI generated content, and the tools that claim to be capable of discerning the AI origin of photos or text, they are plagued by false positives

Ryan, you have missed the most important point. I live in WNC and was affected by Helene. Misinformation wasn’t a problem because we had no access to any information. No telephone, no internet, no cell service and our roads were either blocked or washed out. While many organizations and individuals accomplished a lot, the state government, which is responsible for disaster relief, was not prepared. Based on our experience we need to put some of that Infrastructure Bill money into hardening the cell system.
