Of the dozens of videos I have watched trying to learn how to convert my propane fire pit to natural gas, this has got to be one of the most useful ones I’ve watched. Thank you so much for taking the time to produce this excellent video!!

Thanks for the video. So many videos of people diy’ing their own fire cans but nobody explained why they used the parts that they did or any of this basic gas hardware knowledge

Good video with excellent narration. I was not aware of "air mixers" in LP systems, only carburetors. Thanks for the information.

BEST VIDEO ON THIS TOPIC HANDS DOWN!!! Do you happen to have any “notes”/transcript on the key points you’ve discussed in this video? Just asking before I rewatch several times and write them all down.

Information about principle, but not about implementing your own propane/air mixer in custom application. 3 stars, and thumbs up for the effort.

Hi Andrew, Thank you for taking the time to comment on this video. You're correct, this video covers the principles of how propane air mixers work. Understanding how they work gives our viewers the ability to troubleshoot problems with their propane fire pits. We have many other practical videos, for example if you're planning to build a gas fire pit this video is helpful: support.celestialfireglass.com/how-to-guides/helpful-tips-for-planning-a-diy-propane-fire-pit-table/ The following video is instructional on how to install a propane burner pan for a gas fire pit: support.celestialfireglass.com/how-to-guides/how-to-install-a-propane-fire-pit-burner-pan/ We also have several sized air mixers available for purchase on our site at: www.celestialfireglass.com/fire-pit-fittings-and-parts/ If there's any projects we can help you with, be sure to reach out to us. We're happy to help. -Donnie

If the fire table controls are turned to off but the propane tank valve is still open will it push propane out of the air mixers holes? Should it be mandatory to also close the propane tank valve?
@celestialfireglass3 жыл бұрын
The fire table controls are between the propane tank and the air mixer. The air mixer is installed attached to the underside of the burner pan. When the control knob for the burner is turned off all gas going to the air mixer and burner pan is turned off. The only item which remains under pressure is regulator and hose from the propane tank to the fire pit control knob. It is not necessary to turn off the valve on the propane tank; however, it is good practice to turn that knob off if it's not going to be used for a while.

I bought a fire pit on Amazon. I’m getting black soot on my glass rocks. I think I have one of those air mixers on my burner, but I’m still getting soot. What can I do. My fire pit is a yaheetec fire pit. Thanks for any help

Thank you very much for the video and extensive information on LPG/NG, air mixers, safety and proper connections. I unfortunately picked up a 200$ LP fire pit that said the burner was SS, yet it rusted thru like paper in two seasons, even with proper use and storage. Now I'm having to install a new 12" single ring, but mine had the gas input on the out side of the ring itself, not from the center. That style ring seems to be non-existent. All I can find of the round burners are all center feed. So I need to do some MacGyver'ing. As much as I love the fire pit, I assume not spend the same amount as the total cost of the original purchase.

Typically the $200 range fire pits are built only to last a couple of seasons. You can look on Amazon for a vinyl cover which will cover the entire fire pit - this will greatly extend its life. Replacing the burner will take some "MacGyve'ing" like you said. I've seen some people make burners using regular threaded pipe, drilling holes in it for the gas to pass through. Don't worry about the shape you make it, the burner doesn't need to be round. The gas will be dispersed by the fire glass or lava rocks over it. Good luck with your project and let me know how it turns out. -Donnie

Great explanation. Just one minor comment. The T in NPT is Taper not Thread. This is an important difference between NPT and NPSM where The SM is Straight Mechanical which should not be used for sealing gas or fluid.
@celestialfireglass Жыл бұрын
Thank you Mark! We'll make sure any inserts and guides that come with our burners have NPT on them.

That is a 24" x 8" burner pan which has an output of approximately 90k BTU.

Where can i get a smaller air mixer? Looking for 15,000 BTU max
@celestialfireglass2 жыл бұрын
I do not know of anyone who manufactures a 15,000 BTU air mixer. The lowest BTU air mixer I know of is 40,000. HPC has one listed on Amazon at amzn.to/3bskxMs.

Is it logical that my firepit (Outland Firebowl) has a built in air mixer?
@FirstLast-ml7yf10 ай бұрын
ps...verty illuminating to learn that LP firepits have an air mixer between the control knob and the burner...
@WholesalersUSA10 ай бұрын
Yes, Outland should have the air mixer already included in their fire bowl. You'll usually see this as an opening in the sides of the gas pipe feeding into the bottom of the bowl. You should be able to see it (it may have a screen covering it, or simply be some openings on the sides of the gas feed line).
