If opacity is set to 100%, do textures print well on T-shirts? Have you received any feedback on this from POD sellers?

This will largely depend on what's behind the "texture" so to speak, but in terms of the alpha masking with textures that are taking the color completely away, we have seen no issue in quality! If there is a weird transparency issue, Printful or Printify will alert you in the editor that something may not print right. It's always best to order a sample if you can.

Hi, thanks for the video. I'm having difficulties with exporting the graphic with an Alpha Mask Texture (one of the grunge ones) to an SVG file. When I export to SVG, the output file is actually the pieces that have been cut away, and not the remaining artwork (the inverse of what I expected). Export to PNG works as expected, but not SVG. Help?

Hey there! Great question. Because the alpha mask is a blending mode, an SVG only retains vector editing capability, and the alpha mask is a pixel-based blending mode. In other words, the actual vector pieces of a graphic or element were not "erased" from the texture stamp. PNG will work as expected! We are working on true vector editing in this way soon.

Hey there! The alpha mask setting is a blending mode, and will scale along with your increased or decreased design size, so affecting the design element itself should work.

If you don't clip content will you end up with weird marks on the background of a tshirt? Asking because I have done this because I thought removing background solved this without having to specificially clip the content. I've even ordered a few shirts and didn't notice any weird marks. Just wondering if I should potentially redo these designs before anymore get ordered.

Correct, if you do not clip the texture, the full size/shape of the texture will be applied to the rectangle/horizontal shape that you are going to use. So it needs to be clipped so that it only applies to the design/graphics on the artboard.

My print partner advises not using semi transparent pixels in designs because the background substance they print behind your design might show through. However they are OK with 100% transparent areas in which case they print no background substance. Does turning opacity to 100% completely erase the pixels? Looks like that is the case as long as you use the textures in the alpha mask category. I should look, but is there a halftone alpha mask that is holes instead of dots so that your design is what shows up as dots?

Hey there! Great question and point here. Generally, in our experience, using a slightly faded (semi-transparent) texture hasn't been an issue with DTG printing, it just doesn't look as strong as it could if you use a fully removed alpha mask texture (like what was show in the alpha mask category of the textures). So with that in mind, your best bet would be to use those alpha masks that are in the texture panel, which fully erases that texture from the design.

Hi, Guys Thanks for the video. But i'm always afraid to use it . Did you do test printing with your Masks example on printify? How are the results. I use illustrator when i do masks on shirts to have more control over the masks.

Hey there! We can understand the concern, but usually these DTF or DTG printers do a good job so long as the alpha masking is true. The issue comes when there is some really intense opacity or transparency issues (meaning, there's only a 50 or 60% fade of a texture, which is almost like trying to create a blend of colors). The printers sometimes have an issue with this. However, what alpha masking is doing is taking the text away from the design, so there is nothing there, just a complete gap, and from our experience, the printers do a good job capturing the erased texture.

Wondering how I can release textures to stretch and rotate them, then put them back as alpha mask after I'm done manipulating them. Is that possible?

At this time, no. But we will have that ability in the future. Once you release a texture, it can't be clipped to he design any more. Stay tuned for updates though!
