@Don berry, yes they’re cleaned, and they’re only used exclusively for grain cargo only. Probably they’re also examined by food authority before they can use it.

Is weather monitoring the sole responsibility on the ship's side, ie the foreman on the shore side bears no liability? If damaged cargo is found before or during loading, can the ship reject loading of damage cargo? If damaged cargo has already loaded on board, how to manage it? Thanks.

It goes both ways but of course we are in control of the hatch covers and when the cargo got wet inside the hold it will be our liability. Yes, constant checking during loading is done so if they load some damaged cargo then we need to do something.

The discharge procedure is fully furnished at the video. 1, Is the loading process very similar with the discharge procedure? 2, Is the second mate responsible for monitoring the loading/ unloading operation at the ship side & the chief officer controls the whole operation at both ship & shore side? 3, Who works out discharge sequence? 4, If rain comes suddenly & some corns are wet due the holds cannot be closed quickly, is Shipowner liable for cargo damage? 5, Is it possible that the bulk cargo weight figure at shore side more than the cargo weight figure at ship side? If yes, how come? 5, Will the vessel keep some corn samples? If so, how many samples? 6, Is the inclinometer used to measure the list degree? 7, Which equipment(s) shows & controls the ballasting & deballasting water figures? 8, If the bulk carrier lists more than 3 degrees, will the loading or unloading stopped at once? Is it the usual practice for the vessel to sail at even keel after completion of loading and unloading? Thanks.

No it’s entirely different, discharging is more easy. No, the whole operation is the Chief Officers responsibility. Junior officers are assistants. The Chief Officer for sequences. Yes, it will be the shipowners fault. Yes it’s always with difference because both weighing scale is just approximate. We don’t, there’s an assigned individual to take samples. Inclinometer yes Not really, they have to call me first and then I will assess the situation, it the list is increasing then I have to stop the operation and investigate. If loaded normally it’s even keel or with a small trim.
