A hypo is actually low blood sugar, so it wouldn't involve the fruity smell, but probably my heart beat and the sweat from the low. Totally amazing!

There's a cat working in aged care who will spend time around residents about to pass away. The staff know to call the resident's relatives when the cat finds a new friend. Smelling changes in blood sugar levels is trivial vs. smelling imminent death.

My kitty was such a good mama cat to my sister and I. She would follow us to the bus stop when we were going to work, and she wouldn’t go home until she made sure we got on the bus and the bus actually drove off. We rescued her from an abusive home and w love, patience and care she become attached to us and showed how much she loved us.

I walk with my cat outside, she does not need a leash, she is basically like a dog and we are very close. She always comes running when I call her. One day while walking our usual route through field and forest she decided to stop dead in her tracks, she would not follow me any further and began to growl like tiger. No matter how much I called for her she refused to continue. With her fur all puffed up she kept growing and I stayed with her asking her "whats up my baby girl"?I had no clue what was happening but I soon heard a rustling in the bushes and It was a huge black bear feeding off the blueberries fattening itself up for winter. She knew it was there, she could hear it and smell it and she was warning me to not go any further. We started waking back in the direction we came from but she was very tense, she walked slowly and kept guard until we had walked well away from the danger. Once far enough away she reverted back to her usual clowning around, hiding in the tall grass ready to pounce on my feet as I passed her hiding spot, climbing every tree she deemed worthy to climb and then home for a well deserved treat. My cat has to be without doubt my very best friend.

Not from a long time ago, I had a fight with someone at home, he was trying to kill me, that's when me both cats turned around him while making strange alarming sound and their tails were up. He got scared, hesitated, stopped and released me right after. I am forever grateful for their presence in my life. And ever since then, they always follow me wherever I go.

I have a guard cat.... if I'm home alone and she sees or hears someone coming to the door, she goes into guard dog mode.... if my partner is home, she literally doesn't react.... I had another cat that growled at the postman if I was home alone. Bless, their are so precious ❤❤

My mom says my cat is a guard cat. She's been known to sleep with her back to me and stay up all night when my mom visits overnight. When she leaves, she then sleeps on me ALL DAY. Because she's exhausted from guarding. My mom is, we'll say "not healthy for me" and I think my cat knows this. I'm secretly like "good girl"!

I, too, have a guard cat. If I'm home, she allows me to handle the people entering our space. If I'm not home, she will defend our space in my stead. Found out when someone who was a frequent guest in the house (not friend or foe to me) entered our rented room. Two days later, she's still shaking over how my cat growled and advanced on her. I smiled, perhaps with some venom as I told her, "You're lucky you're still scared over the encounter, or I'd be pissed." She had, after all, broke into my room and only then been threatened by my cat. She never complained about physical harm happening, so she likely took the threat seriously. (I had two cats at the time, and know it was my girl. Boy kitty was my sweet "chicken cat.") She's never threatened a housemate, just outsiders who invade our space.

We call our Fluffy boy; house security. He patrolls the house, walks with us from room to room, entering first to make sure nothing is there to harm us . He is always near and ready to defend us day and night. He's very protective!!!

My kitty always guarded the bathroom door whenever I go potty. Guarding me from what idk. It's just she & I but it's cute. She also knows when I am sick or depressed or upset. She comes to lay close to my face during these times.

My cat will wake me up from nightmares. It's the most precious thing. And she puts her little nose up to mine to make sure I'm OK. She will jump across the room for me if she thinks I'm hurt. It amazes me.

My cat too. If I cry out because I stubbed my toe or something, she runs to me and checks on me. Normally she runs AWAY from the noise. Once, I was very upset and sobbing. She came to me, jumped on the bed, and bit my toe. Not hard or anything. I felt she did it because she knew I was upset and didn't know what to do. I stopped crying but was still sad. She sat with me on the bed for half an hour, until I was calmer. Then she jumped down.

I had a strange interaction with my pets recently… My dog was jet black decided to sleep in front of my bedroom door when I came out it was dark and I didn't know he was there until I bumped him. It would've been OK, but he stood up. I fell hard And hollered. I was OK but took a moment on the floor and as I lay there collecting myself, our cat came up and put his face right in mine checking me out. I felt the nicest warmth in my heart from that action. I am happy to report that all three of us are just fine.

Rosie, my cat, seems to be very protective of me. It’s nice most of the time. Except she would fight Tasha, was the other cat, all the time. (Tasha passed away a couple of years ago.) Rosie didn’t want her anywhere near me. She sometimes tries to protect me from other humans, too. I like that sometimes she tries to get me to eat. That started around the time I started having colitis, and I wouldn’t eat much and/or forget about it. She kind of saves me that way. When I was choking once, she ran to me as soon as she heard it. She meowed until my parent came. I was fine by then, but she seemed to help me.

My cat TI is and does everything you've talked about and I respond as you also are saying I have many medical problems and now lung cancer he won't let me out of his sight and always looks toward my front door whenever there is a noise that is not from my house He wakes me every morning at the same time I have to take medication at that time also when my alarm goes off he runs to my medication and waits till I take them he is amazing and I can't imagine life without him

i have 1 box in both of my bathrooms and when my boy is occupied I would look back and offer audible praise and look back towards the do where my pc is. He then would stand with his back towards me and look back at me as if to say the same and slow blink then back ahead. e no longer dos this since I brought his sister back . I suppose they are both now busy but watch me sleep/ stand guard by my open door.

And when I talk on the phone she will leap on my back. She doesn’t like me talking on the phone. She even gently bites me on the cheek as if to say ‘enough now. I don’t know what this box is and I don’t like it…’.

My GF owned Tommy the tabby cat at the time I met her in Huntington Beach Ca. long ago. And she told me of something that happened a couple months before we even met, where Tommy alerted her of a potentially dangerous situation. Apparently the cat had woken her up, very late one dark night. She (GF) woke with an instant feeling of foreboding. By then Tommy was not in his usual sleeping spot but uncharacteristically wide awake, ears forward, tail wagging quietly, and the cat on full alert, on the window sill and curiously peeking between the drapes at something clearly dodgy that was happening outside. Upstairs (in full view from her window) lived a guy she'd dated for a minute and knew well. She already knew he owned a whole bunch of firearms. He collected militaria including weaponry, and had several footlockers full of old German K98 Mauser rifle, British Enfields, a carbine or two, and enough ammo for a minor Ukrainian fire-fight. And this same guy spent most nights at a neighborhood bar, which was where he was at the time. But she also knew Tommy well enough to realize his unusual-for-him behavior was a clear warning of some sort of danger so went to the window to discreetly take a careful look herself. And what had alarmed Tommy tabby were two guys, both in ski masks no less, who were busily and quietly pulling long boxes out through the wide open window of ex-BF's apartment! Thinking quickly, her main idea being to resolve the matter bloodlessly but hopefully without property loss nor any sort of confrontation if she could possibly do it, my GF grabbed Tommy and moved away from that window; after which she turned on the TV at low volume, to make a small amount of noise so the gun-thieves would realize somebody has seen them and the jig was up. And fortunately for all involved, the crooks were smart enough to take the hint! They quickly decided to forget their thieving for the night, and soon were down the stairs making their escape. Then instead of calling police she just called Gun guy to come home from the bar. And he too declined to drop a dime, as not much had the thieves gotten away with, anyway. My point being, Tommy the tabby (probably) helped prevent at least one crime that night, but it was only made possible due to the intimate bond my GF and her kit shared, that even made it possible.

When I get upset my little girl is right there. She pats my arm and then lean against me, looking into my face, and purring. March will be her second birthday and she knows she has me wrapped around her paw. She follows me everywhere in my house. If she thinks someone is coming she gets between me ad the door.

I think my cat would really protect me against physical threats. I have seen what she have done with the Vet. It was not nice. She can severely hurt someone within a bunch of seconds. For me and everyone knowing her she is just a fluffy cuddlebear. But the other side of her is… fierce

Years ago I had an amazing Tortoiseshell, Patchouli who slept with me every night. One night we were in bed and someone was fiddling with the doorknob on the outside door. We heard it at the same time, I shot up in bed, and Patchouli stood in front of me (between me and the door) spread her 4 legs wide to assume a larger stance...and growled! I've never seen this before or since. A couple of my cats have exhibited very aggressive "non cat-like" behaviors in the face of threats.

I had a a cat named Sniffles and I had him for 6 years before I went to college. But one day I was in my apartment and used to weirdos walked into my apartment and my cat chase two grown men out of my apartment. He didn't have any front claws but he was a bully to anyone who he felt was going to threaten our livelihood.❤ Miss you buddy 😢

What if they just rub up to you always when they want to be fed? No other time? I feed her regularly and appropriately, according to our Vet. She is starting to wake me up earlier and earlier, I hate excluding her from my bedroom, but I need to sleep! And she doesn’t seem to care if I am injured or sick,

It seems like your cat has developed a strong association between being fed and seeking attention from you. You might want to try gradually shifting her feeding schedule to discourage the early wake-up calls. As for her seeming indifference to your condition, cats can sometimes have a more independent nature, but they still care in their own way. Keep an eye on her behavior and if you're concerned about her well-being, consult your vet for advice. 💜

One time, a female police officer I know showed up at a medical call I was on. The medic commented to her that last time he saw her she was covered in blood. I asked what happened. She said she was at a house to arrest a man on a warrant and his cat jumped onto the back of her head and was scratching and biting her. She tossed it away and it jumped up again, clawing her face and she had to throw it off again. Now, it may have only been reacting to the commotion and maybe not so much protecting its owner but wow!! That's pretty crazy! As far as growling or hissing at sensing a potential threat, I'm not so sure it's in order to protect or even warn its human as much as it is merely expressing its uneasiness with what it feels about a potential threat. Most cats, including mine, typically leave and hide in another room when they sense something, such as someone coming into the house. That is hardly protecting me, it's more protecting themselves! Out of my three cats, only one follows me around a lot and it's solely because all he wants to do is eat and wants food.

My childhood cat Kiki (rip) used to come RUNNING, like CHARGING in when she thought I was crying. Mind you this was a fat cat who never ran otherwise. I just remember one time the most, my mom made me laugh, and I was laughing SO hard and hysterically… Kiki thought I was crying and came charging from who knows where down stairs straight up to me ❤️❤️ And my cat now.. Bella… it’s just easier to say she’s my left arm. She’s around me 90% of the time and HATES when I’m not holding her. She will scream at me. I’ll hold her for so long and then put her down cuz I’m actually allergic to cats and can only handle so much… as soon as I put her down she does a small walk away and then loop back and stand up and scream at me while reaching at me with both paws 🤣🤣🤣 it’s the funniest and cutest thing. I don’t think I’ll ever have a cat that loves me more. (It’d be hard) Bella is OBSESSED with me. And it’s funny cuz she used to be such a little independent moody diva. Didn’t like being held at all. I used to pick her up a lot and sometimes I’d hold her upside down (I’m so sorry Bella that was so mean) and she clearly hated it as she’d try to break free instantly. I eventually stopped picking her up and playing with her like I was. I started being calmer around her and respected her space, aaaaaaand now she doesn’t respect mine 🤣 wouldn’t have it any other way tho. As annoying as she can be, I always just have to remind myself “shes doing this cuz she loves me, i should be thankful while i can” (cuz she’s going on 16 this year) Kiki only lived to 14 and my dog only lived till 11 so… I always need to be more grateful that I still have her and she’s in such good shape and very healthy and loving. The only other animal I grew up with (wasn’t really mine but I loved him still) was tigger and he died at 18. So Bella has a goal. If you saw Bella right now (I mean usually around 10pm-3 am) you would NOT think she was going to be 16 any time soon… she’s such an active crackhead. One day she got the zoomies and screams early and did it around 9! 🤣 If you ever want to be freaked out at 2 am while simultaneously entertained. Get a cat. The more cats the more entertainment. (But also don’t hoard animals. No one that loves animals would hoard them. Animal hoarding is INSTANT animal cruelty in my book. Or regular hoarding and owning pets… just wrong. No hoarder should be allowed to own a pet of any type. I’ve seen too many cases where they find multiple animal corpses and in ONE, the lady had like 30-50 dead animals found in her house. Like just the bones cuz it had been so long and they decomposed and/or got eaten. It’s just wrong. Figure out your shit before you bring animals into it) (also I almost said please don’t hoard animals but it’s not a please. Don’t f*cking hoard animals 🔫🔫🔫)

My Maine does not meow. Sometimes she will make a gurgling sound when she wants something. She loves water to the point of jumping into my shower. She does not like treats. I have to watch out when she thinks I am leaving her alone, because she will bite me. She is definitely different from any cat I have ever had.

I met a cat that belonged to an acquaintance. She'd called me to take a look at her malfunctioning laptop. She works nights so she wouldn't be there but her BF would. The cat was unfriendly from the beginning, but when I sat in the spot on the couch where she normally sat, the cat attacked me. The BF finally got the cat sequestered in another room so I could work on the laptop. Ultimately she had to get rid of him, because he attacked their landlord.

@@Lindacass-db8sd He didn't fear her. He was her best bud. He just didn't like others. When I walked into the house this cat made it known that he objected to my presence. It wasn't until I started to sit on the couch where my friend normally sat, that he attacked me. Nope he was more like a dog protecting their owner's property. Dogs bite, cats scratch first bite later. But boy do those scratches hurt. Been on the receiving end when I ignored a cats displeasure.

There are a few reasons I can share with you. Firstly, your cat could have been stolen by someone. Secondly, it could have met with an accident which I pray not. Thirdly, when a cat knows that it's time to leave this world, it will say its goodbyes to you subtlely and then disappears elsewhere quietly, with the intention that you will not be sad over its demise. Lastly, if a cat is mistreated continuously, it will choose to leave.

We always had a dog and one or more cats when I was growing up. We had a farm and we would take some to the barn where they slept with the livestock. One or two lived in the house, and one slept with me. In the winter he slept under the blankets and kept my feet warm. Great little furnaces.

how much does the reason matter? impact is what's relevant, not intent.

I was living at my boyfriend's place while he was away for a couple of months. Turned out he had bed bugs and I was being bitten every night. Horrible bites. One evening I was in bed with my two beautiful tuxedo cats Alice and Mellony. I was covered from head to toe with clothing with rubber bands around my ankles and wrists. I had a see through scarf over my head with a tie around my neck. I was singing praises to God and putting my kitties names in places. They were enjoying themselves and so was I. All of a sudden one of those blood sucking beggers ran very fast across the bed. I without thinking swiped it off the bed. I got up to find it and kill it. I couldn't find it tho. My joyous singing turned to crying a lot and begging God to please help me find it. I was crying so much saying it has to die. I was so upset. I couldn't find it tho. I got back in bed so sad and mad that I couldn't find it. Still crying a little I just sat there. Then Alice got up stretched and walked to the edge of the bed sat on her bottom for just a few seconds then jumped down and sat on her bottom again looking very hard at something on the floor. I said what baby do you see it? I got up and sure enough she was staring right at it. I killed that blood freak. I was so grateful to Alice for helping me. And guess what?, I never got another bite. Not one after being terrorized for over a month being bit every single night no matter what I did to protect myself. Alice and Mellony are sisters that were born on my bed. I always say Alice is the most loving and Mellony is the sweetest cats that ever lived. That they are the best cats in the world and if they're not they are equal to the ones who are. Alice passed away at 23 years old on March 1st 2020. And I am laying next to Mellony as I write this. She is 27 years old. I miss Alice. I love my two beautiful sisters so much.
