Because most high level crossfitters we see on the screen are on PED's and have elite genetics indeed. I've gone to one crossfit gym once in Breda, most of what I got were somewhat judgemental vegan vibes combined with over the top enthusiast motivation to use horrible form with too much weight. I went straight back to the regular gym after.

Some of the worst sports injuries I’ve seen are from CrossFit throwing heavy weights around for time is asking for trouble…

While it's likely that many top-tier CrossFit athletes use PEDs, the CrossFit Games serve as a selection process that filters out all but the top 1%, or more likely, the top 0.001% of the CrossFit community. Therefore, it’s highly probable that these athletes will rank in the highest categories of your body composition calculator

Could it also be that cross-fitters in general are typically more lean, giving the appearance they are more jacked due to visible muscle definition?

thank you, can you please make a video about why some people can get to 315lbs bench and not have a jacked chest? you said there is a correlation strength = size

Hi Menno, Your article on CNS was very eye opening. In most of the studies referring to strength and hypertrophic responses. Particularly the hypertrophy/atrophy "cycles" or indeed simply training the same muscle group again before the hypertrophic response has concluded. Will not elicit more stimulus because its unlikely the High threshold motor units will have been stimulated in the same way. This is almost always explained as to CNS fatigue, which, as you indicated recovered incredibly quickly. Do they mean the peripheral elements of the CNS? Its an answer I cannot reconcile myself and Id appreciate your insight. Bioscience has peed all over this one too. Thank you for the work you do.

Paradoxically, most neuromuscular fatigue is local, but a significant part of that is technically CNS fatigue, as it's located at the ends of the motor neurons. So it's indeed the case that peripheral CNS fatigue can reduce muscle activation levels.

On top of "Harder than last time" training thus progressive overload mentality, I do believe they also thrive due to embracing quite easily higher frequencies of training, which should facilitate some hypertrophy Menno Henselmans ?

I go to a normie gym. There was a person who competed in the CrossFit Games (very successfully I believe) who trained there. Splitting weights and cardio the normie way, rather than training CrossFit style.

I think they built the general body most folks want. Athletic and lean while being strong enough.

i think the 2 main reasons why the average crossfitter gets a better physique of the average gym member are: 1- as you said… the train hard!! (don’t know why, but i think harder than the average gym member who tipically too fra from failure) 2- because they burn way more calories, so at the end of the day this comes out as a better body composition!! even if most of the people doesn’t want to understand this… lifting weights, for how are it may be, doesn’t burn as many calories… nust a very very few. That means that by only lifting weights you should really really limitate your calorie intake if you want to be shredded! and most of the time… average gym giu doesn’t want to pay this much attention on his diet!!

There's a lot of self-selection bias. Whether it's a bodybuilder or a cross-fitter we're talking about people who are generally above average athletes that would probably build muscle in any sport despite "sub-optimal" training.

Talking about natural lifters...what about the impact of crossfit in the hormones aspect? Dont you think that CrossFit is better to increase testosterone and growth hormone than being in the gym doing pulleys and machines in not doped athletes?
