If you do manage to get in somewhere make absolutely certain to set up additional recover right away. But to be clear, if you can't get past the verification, then you can't get in. All you can do is CAREFULLY follow the account recovery process offered by Google.

I know what my google account and password is but google gives me verification that needs the code from my old phone number which I never activated before. Thank you for this important info Leo. Having lost my phone recently I had great difficulty with my bank account because the bank has no option other than verifying some transactions I wanted to do where a security code was sent to my phone. I had a bit of a fall out with a face to face meeting with a staff member at the bank. I said it was ridiculous that there was no other option. The problem is that they bring out these new methods without informing people of how they work and precautions to take. @@trcyjones yes by now i have recovered my account as you see in my original post ive written "almost a year now" little did i know that those roumers about just wait 3 months and try to log in again ... were maybe they were true at some point but at this point it was actualy on year after not logging in that it worked "again" im not sure if this was intentional by google to keep the account locked for one year but it is possible to acces it again the only tip i can give at this point is ... change your poassword at least once so you have a "old password" you can fall back to (reason just google beeing idiots) because if you ahve just one password and there was no password befor the so called option "please try one of your older passwords" has little meaning.

It depends on the type of "confirm it's me". If it's an SMS text, it goes to the number, so whatever device has that number is the device that'll get the message. If it goes to a google app, then I *think* just installing a google app on your iPhone and signing in with the same account there might be enough.

watched your video but sadly things you mentioned are all about getting verification code on mobile phone or set up this or that, we are here because google is sending code to old number which we do not have access to and although we have backup email connected, google does not provide this option. In my case it is keep asking me to input my password and then sending code to my mobile number. I have been taken back to same page again & again and finally "Sorry we could not verify you" So google is useless when it comes to recover your old account.

My account seems to suddenly want me to use a "Samsung Galaxy S8+". I went to the Samsung tablet I have, but rarely use lately (which isn't that model, but that must be the one it means???) and that account is not on that tablet and also asks me for the S8+. K so, i was trying to recover some deleted emails i lost, google said i had to change my password to recover the deleted emails, so i did. Now i cant log in! I tried the “forgot password” option but instead of sending a verification code via phone, it says to use one of the 8digit backup codes, which i dont have.. when i choose “try another way”, it then sends a verification code to another email that i dont have anymore, so i cant get that code either. When i choose “try another way” again, it says that the account cant be verified as mine so they cant log me in. i have this old gmail account linked to a youtube channel and i don’t feel comfortable with the videos on that youtube channel being up anymore… the only problem is i can’t get into the account to take the videos down and i have been trying for over two years if i can’t get into the account is there at least any way i can get the videos taken down?

I've heard that reporting the videos to KZbin as containing you without your consent, or similar, may cause them to take 'em down.

Follow Google's account recovery process as carefully and completely and use any other alternative techniques they might offer.

Hey I was able to recover mine by asking the person who owns my old text plus number lol but I just changed my recovery email to my yahoo one, and yet when I test it out, it still sends the code to my gmail account(the same one I just log into) how do I change that??

I had a different issue. I was overseas in Israel and I was trying to log onto my gmail and hotmail account but it kept on trying to verify me with my cell number. Now even though my number was good my cell number did not work in Israel. It kept on sending me a password to that cell number and even though I had the phone in my hand I never got those texts and I could not under any circumstances log onto my email from overseas. How can you make sure you have full access to all your emails if you are overseas and simply can't get texts to your phone because your phone carrier won't deliver texts outside the USA? Can anyone help with that?

hey this video helped alot, but I'm still facing the problem where i receive the code and enter it, but it just brings up the message of this is a unrecognised device try signing in with a device you've logged into already. ive tried on my phone and on my laptop and still nothing, i dont have any of my old devices and i use this acc for my PS log in and unable to get any of my data back

I am still trying to figure out why after decades of email verification I need a PHONE to USE MY COMPUTER? Next, you will need a phone to drive your car. Phone required means sales are LOST to to competition. Food, roof, internet and phone. I can afford three of the four . . . I will not take a hand out for something I have no use for either.

Dear Leo: 1)I am a linux user, no windows 2) I can use google for their other services but gmail has been locked out 3) As in your video you said theree is a big liklihood that that account is forever gone - understood. But!!!Q How can I get a new free (not tem promotional) email account without the need to depend on a cellphone? I simply don;'t want to contend more with the problems I have seen with Androind (never mind iphone -IMHO Bad apples!) Make sure that you can login to that account from a browser on a PC. That'll have more recovery options as well.

Okay this all sounds good but if you don't know how to read and write and you ask Google your Gmail password I have the same old telephone number and I have a new phone because my phone crashed and I lost the piece of paper that my cousin wrote my password down on can't find it nowhere and he's dead he's deceased he died two years ago so how can I get back in my phone I mean I have the same phone number that my Gmail was set up to and I probably don't try that so many times I probably don't lock it up and if I did that then I don't know how the heck am I going to go back in there cuz I mean so I said if you try to account too many times it'll lock it up I don't know how true that is I just know what everybody's been telling me so wizard phone man😢
