I honestly have no issue with people spending a lot of money, my only issue ever comes with people overspending, not cherishing what they have, always looking for something else, and hoarding. There are hundreds of thousands of pieces of musical gear that just sit in a room, never to be touched, and because of that, the industry churns out so much gear. We're over consuming our planet into a grave. Thank you for your honesty.
@JamesOnGuitarАй бұрын
Yeah i get you totally - i think that is one of the reasons i stopped buying anything else really. I don’t need it - watches, cars or clothes (i try to make my clothes last!)

I have a problem with gear speculators driving up prices, for the purpose of driving up prices, but I especially have a problem with people who think they know how much gear other people should have.
@darthaquaАй бұрын
Agree, if you can afford and not go into difficult financial territory, go for it! Personally, although I like the idea of several guitars and different varieties of amps, I struggle with the mental “baggage” of having something and not playing it daily - I’ve had multiple instruments before but always seem to go through a gear spring clean and sell - lately, I’m happier with just one electric and one acoustic (will it change in the future? Maybe!) - really love the format on this video :)
@Wellcee426Ай бұрын
I disagree if you got the money and you have a hobby, spend some. I love it because a lot of people are employed making boutique hand made items that they put their lives into. This always leads into skills and trades being past down supporting the working class doing something they love for a living. I would never shame anybody for collecting, although it’s nice when the stuff gets used.

Hey James: quite an eclectic experience you've had ! Good for you that you took the chance and converted the luck (which isn't enough) in successful businesses. Money's good, but isn't everything and I personally would rather own gear that give me pleasure and satisfactions, than a fancy car I wouldn't know what to do with. In the last years, I sized down my (small) collection of guitars and amps (mainly the powerful ones because I developed Tinnitus), just to keep a few that I enjoy playing: An LP, anSG (same as you but in Cherry) home assembled Teles (all different configs), an HSS Strat with hand-picked parts, a P-90 B3 featured axe by Gene Baker, and 3 small combos (Vox, Fender, Marshall) for home use. Various pedals by CMatMods (my favourites) and I guess that's it... Keep on the good work with biscuits and music ;-) Cheers from France 🇫🇷

I have no problem with how people buy so much gear because at the end of the day people spend their hard earned money on what they find as either a hobby or for their job! And even though I can’t afford gear, I don’t hate the people that can! Because I watch KZbin for entertainment and many people who have a lot of gear bring me joy and give aspirations for the future! I have in the past wish I could afford my favourite gear but nowadays I just see it as I have what I have and I enjoy them! I love watching your videos and I live vicariously through you!
