My doctor had been treating me for joint issues for almost 20 years and I asked him for a letter. He said you're not disabled and asked me what I could no longer do. I mentioned a few things and he said write it all down and bring it to me. He took one look at the full page of things I could no longer do and said you are disabled. Then the SS doctor gave me an exam if you can call it that. She had me stand up and squat down, wriggle my fingers and pronounced me healthy and fit for work. What she didn't realize was that I could no longer pick up a pen and sign my name, or that my feet would give out in less than two hours of standing and that my right knee would become unbearable if I sat with it bent for over fifteen minutes. I ended up going to an arthritis specialist who set her hand on my shoulder and had me move it. She said I can feel that it's around 90% worn out and then she proceeded to feel other joints and give me a rough figure of wear. Got my SS approved the second time. I was 58, worked construction for 40 years and was very worn out physically. All I wanted was some of the money I paid in back to live on. Recently the american life expectancy dropped around six years so it makes sense that the govt wants to raise retirement age to 70 now. Most people will never draw a penny of their payments back. Especially from construction workers who rarely live beyond 65.

My dad was an iron worker. He got injured on the job. He could hardly get around. They told him he could be an elevator operator. We lived in a rural community that at the time had 2 elevators. ☹

Good advice . More than half the battle is to pick up a very good attorney to walk you through the process or your going to go through an up hill battle !

Yeah my neurologist decline to help me with ssdi claim , but luckly my main internist doctor did fillied out my paper work but he just quit last month so i am now looking for a new doctor .

Okay I agree with you about going in on your next appointment, but you may have forgotten that since the COVID most psychiatrist don't see you in their office so there is no way to see them in person by the phone or by Google meet they keep putting me off. If you have a solution for me please let me know, thank you.😅

I’m confused. In my state I was only asked for records. I was never asked to get my dr to fill out anything, although my Dr does support me. Unfortunately, they are making me go see one of their internists and my case is complicated and requires multiple specialists. I had to explain one of the issues I had to my own primary care doctor. I am not encouraged.

Now what if the Doctor does not help you? What can you do then? Do you have to get him subpoenaed to get your records from him? Maybe even subpoena him to show at a hearing for you?

I have a surgery June 10th but I already asked my doctor if I can apply for disability and he said yes. I have to do a Covid test before the surgery and I have to quarantine after the Covid test. My question is he gave me disability from 6/7-6/30 but I would prefer to apply from 6/6-7/1 will do that be any problem ?

Be grateful, America. Instead of a doctor, in the UK, we now have a non-medical person whose tick list is only there to 'prove' that you are fit for work. So people diagnosed with terminal cancer with a 3 year life span and undergoing extensive treatments are being pronounced fit for work
