How Do I Enable the Receiver in a 6160RF?

In this video, Joe shows users how to enable the wireless receiver for a Honeywell 6160RF Keypad. Enabling the receiver is necessary for using wireless sensors with a Honeywell VISTA System. Otherwise, the system will only be able to support hardwired sensors. But there is still a system zone limit.
The Honeywell 6160RF is an alphanumeric keypad that is often used as the primary controller for a Honeywell VISTA Series Alarm System. As hardwired control panels, these systems require an external keypad for basic operation. It is recommended that an alphanumeric keypad is used, since it will allow for deep level Installer Programming. If a user tries to use a Fixed English keypad for programming, then the menu options will not be fully displayed. This means that the user will be navigating the menus blindly, and it is very likely that they will mess up the settings for the alarm system.
But the Honeywell 6160RF provides a second function beyond basic system operation. The keypad also serves as a wireless receiver for a VISTA System. This way, a user will not have to add a separate receiver to use wireless sensors. This is very important for anyone who wants to use wireless sensors with their system. Wireless sensors are generally easier to install than hardwired sensors, since wires will not have to be run from the sensor to the panel or fished through any walls.
The 6160RF will allow Honeywell 5800 Series wireless sensors to be used with a Honeywell VISTA System. These sensors operate at a frequency of 345 MHz, and they are some of the most reliable and consistent sensors in the security industry. Keep in mind though, there is only a finite number of zones that can be used with a VISTA System. Any wireless zones that are set up with the System through the 6160RF will count towards this total limit.

I just swapped from a 6150rf to a 6160rf and 2 things I can't get the installer code ect.. or any to work. It's new . Worked on old keypad . Also the 6160rf displays ready to arm . But green light is not on! The the system is Vista 20

I have a 6160RF, can I put another 5881ENH in the same system to extend the transmission range ?

Not if you are using one of the Vista-21iP, Vista-20P, or similar panels. Only the panels that support a polling loop, such as the Vista-40, Vista-50P, Vista-128 and Vista-250 panels support using 2 receivers. If you aren't using one of the polling loop panels, you should invest in a 5800RP instead of another receiver. www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5800rp

You will need to run wires from this keypad to the vista panel. This keypad will give the panel the ability to communicate with wireless sensors.

I have a Vista-10P with a 6150RF display and all sensores in the house are wireless. I just bought a 6160RF. Will the RECEIVER ADDRESS be 00 and will I need to reprogram all the zones in the house? Thanks.

You will not need to reprogram the wireless. The only address the receiver can use on that panel is 00, as it only supports 1 receiver.

I replaced the keypad and can get into all the programming and the alarm says it's set. But I am getting a check 100 on the system and none of the sensors are connecting. I'm going to try what you did in the video. Is there anything else I can try or will reinstalling the old keypad fix the problem?

If you replaced the keypad with another 6160rf putting the system in go no go test mode then tripping devices can help aswell

This depends on which system you have. As a general rule, residential panels like the 20p can only use 1 wireless receiver but up to 8 keypads. Commercial panels like a 128bpt can use 2 wireless receivers, but a max of 31 keypads.
