How do I get a Second Combat Style in SWTOR?

I would love to see a 2023 version of tips & tricks as I started playing awhile ago and didn't realize how to get a mount until I was level 30 because my friend showed me. It would really cool if you can do that as I'm such a beginner all I am doing currently is just quests as I have no idea what anything else in the game means.

Thank you for your detailed, high-quality content! I tested this game during alpha and beta (crazy amount of issues), but I stuck with the game for several years rolling a bunch of toons. Also, the game launch did a flash mob in NYC that was beyond epic. Some of the storytelling was always strong. Still, I hope a modernized version of Galaxies comes back but onto my question. Here is my confusion. If I am understanding all the videos on this new mechanic, a Guardian can now, for example, play like a sentential if the mood strikes. But, using my example, if a guardian switches to the sentential style, they lose all their guardian perks so, essentially, they are no longer a guardian (unless they switch back) - yes? If so, what's the point? As the new system requires you to have already unlocked the sentential (sticking with my example) beforehand anyways, why wouldn't you have different toons for different experiences (alts)? Is the idea what Marcus notes - it's basically a loadout system for different content? Thank you for your time (MTFBWYA)

My recommendation is: If you have a combat style that has no stealth ability take one that has as a second combat style. More often than not I find it really helpful to bypass "troubled" sections of the game when doing dailies. And once you have unlocked the blue 336 gear at Hyde and Zeek a second loadout for your second combat style is ready to go before you know.

Jugg/marauder/sorc not having any stealth is heartbreaking. Why would I want my Vader/malgus rp main to have to be an assassin :(:(:( if only we could have 3 and then you'd never need more than 2 toons per faction to do it all haha

It was briefly noted in commentary, but to reiterate. You have to have your other combat style equipment in your inventory when you switch. I do believe it places your 1st style equipment in the available open slots. Make sure you know what you had when you are at the medic and selling (recommend placing your gear in one row and when you swap, immediately place the other gear in those now empty spots)

My only complaint is if not continue subbed u will stuck to last combat class. Wish u still can change combat class even you are in preferred status once you unlock 2nd combat style. When u subbed to this game. Not all people can subbed every month coz too expensive to their country. Btw I'm still enjoying this game though. Thanks for the clear guide swtorista. God bless you.

As an endgame guy. I have been doing melee/RDPS combinations or tank/DPS versus DPS/heal to max my combinations of play. I think with all of my alts I usually have been doing vanguard or PT and operative combos LOL.

I have a question. A buddy and I are thinking of starting the game up again. Both of us have played in the past, but neither of us knew each other back then. So we're both likely on different servers. Are all of our unlocks shared server wide or account wide? ("Family tree" stuff like the unlock perks, or mounts or achievements Ect.) Would that stuff transfer to a new server should one of us need to start a new character on a new server, or will one of us just get screwed over and have to start everything all over from scratch?

I read some time ago that Bioware has plans to add at least one new combat style. No idea when, however, when they do there will be a CM item to reset/remove one of your combat styles to make space for the new one. Let's hope they don't price it like 2000 CCs - but heck - I would pay that amount!

Also something people may be interested in is if you play as a Lightside Jedi and have enough Darkside when you pick your second class you can actually switch your first class aswell eg; Jedi Knight to Sith Warrior, I found this out when I came back to the game after 5 years away and was given the choice of picking a second class (as when I left this was not an option), I presume you can do the same the other way too, with enough LS points you should be able to change ffrom Sith to Jedi though I have not tested this as all my characters are full darkside now and only one did the full lightside back round the launch of the Legacy system so I could get the unlock.

@@frankfuller975 Yeah presumed it would work the other way too though as I said I was not sure as I have no alts with high enough LS points, but as it was not mentioned in the video I thought someone might find it interesting, if for whatever reason they wanted to change from LS-DS or the other way. Also for anyone interested; While it is a full class conversion you still continue your original chosen class story the same as the usual second unlock.

@@Galiant2010 Tbh, corporate clash is one of those games that avoids the limitations, while yes it's not one of those rated T games that is that epic or anything, but there is strategy involved and you are able to swap between different builds for certain bosses if needed.

You can't be a merc and a Jedi. Force users can be forced users and tech can be tech. You can be a guardian/ inquisitor but not a guardian/smuggler.

Only sub can pick up a second style. You can only switch as long as you're subbed. If you unsubscribe you are stuck as whatever style you were in last

There is not. A transfer costs cartel coins. You can use the key and save up if thats the best way or work on doing achievements and earning cartel coming in game to get enough to do a server transfer

Let me just make sure I understand correctly If I sub for one month, I can basically change the combat style on all my characters that only have one combat style right now by picking the second, and leaving them on that combat style till the sub runs out? Then its "permanently" changed?

So I know this is very late, but for some reason it still won't allow me to choose a second style. I've finished all three origin chapters and it refuses to let me. Am I doing something wrong or do you think it's just a bug?

Pretty sure you have to finish the 3rd chapter on the OTHER class you want to use as a subclass for your first character. Just like for unlocking the class buffs. So to pick Jugg as a second combat style on your Sage you'd have to beat the original class story for the Sith Warrior. Not sure if you have to do it as the Jugg, or if either Jugg/Mara works, though.
