It would make a lot of sense for the unit to cycle once when set up. As for now, I set it up for 24 hours from now. I either get to see it work in two days, or hope it does. And hope that I've chosen the correct watering time and pressure.

Dear Rain Drip, This has by far been the easiest and fasted drip system I have ever installed. Love the KZbin tutorial. I set my system up in about 20 minutes and now I'm moving onto another project. I'm heading out tomorrow to purchase another system. Thanks again.

Dear Mr. RainDrip, please excuse the unwanted feedback: This is an excellent timer for planting new grass, or overseeding, as you can set it up to water 3, 5, or 10 minutes every hour. It keeps the new seedlings moist without over-watering, and, most importantly keeping your water bill in check. I only wish it had a real timer with time, or a light sensitive cell to stop the watering at night, it would then be a top notch water timer. The only solution on very short water cycles it to get up at 5:00 AM to start your timer, and to turn it off at night. With a real start and stop 'time" you would not have that hassle. it would be a true "set and forget" and probably the best timer ever. Best regards, K.

Just installed mine today. I think its great so far! However, having the instructions on how to use the timer written and packaged with the box would be great. Not sure I understand why you can't include them, and at the same time point people to KZbin for a visual demonstration.

I’m setting it up for the first time. I understand the auto feature is delayed until the next cycle. So I did the manual for 10 minutes to unkink my 75’ soaker hose. I need another 10 minutes but it won’t go back and give me another 10 on the manual timer. Any suggestions? Doesn’t seem to be enough water pressure going thru ( my faucet is open 100%) to force water in the last 25’ of my soaker hose.

I have two of these great timers. They have been in use for two years and are working very well. Enjoyed your presentation, but you did not say anything about the Battery Icon in the lower right of the white upper section of the timer. It would appear that the flashing frequency of the automatic light will change if the batteries are weak (single flash in auto mode means OK, two flashes = batteries are weakened, three flashes = batteries are either about to, or have failed. Am I on the right track here??

So, I connected it to a drip hose, as is, and got nothing. No water is going through. Do I really need to cut my drip hose to put the cut end over the drip hose connector part in order for this to work? Why is it not working connected directly to the drip hose since it fits together?

If I set the Raindrip Timer's frequency for every 4 hours and the duration for 3 minutes, initially programming the timer so that it will start at 9 am, will it automatically follow this program as long as the water is turned on ? Ed
@RaindripInc
@RaindripInc 8 жыл бұрын
+Ed Piacentino Hi Ed! The timer acts like a countdown timer. If you set the frequency dieal to 4 hours at 9:00am, then the first time the program will run will be at 1:00pm (4 hours after you set the timer) and will run for 3 minutes (or the amount of time programmed on the run time dial). The timer will continue to run every 4 hour and run for 3 minutes until the batteries run out or the programming is changed. Do you put the upper knob to reset if you want it to work in Auto with no rain delay? Reset doesn't make sense?
@RaindripInc
@RaindripInc 9 жыл бұрын
Hi John Rogers! Yes, that is correct. If you turn the upper knob to reset it will go back to its' original program. Alternatively, you don't have to move the rain delay knob at all. Once the rain delay setting is complete (24, 48 or 72 hours), it will automatically revert back to its' original program. But, if you want to put it in Rain Delay again, then you simply turn it back to Reset and then back to Rain Delay. The manual dial operates completely separately from the regular program dials. I hope that helps!

why Run time should be less than frequency? imagine, I want to irrigate my garden one time 30 mins daily, thus I must adjust frequency knob on 24h and Run timer knob on 20min and manual water on 10. my question is, the manual water minutes knob needs to be adjusted every day or this program is constant till the next adjustment? Thanks
@RaindripInc
@RaindripInc 8 жыл бұрын
+Far id Hello! The manual water dial runs independently from the program settings. If you set your dial to manual water for 10 mintues, and your frequency knob to 24 hour and run timer knob for 20 minutes than you will be adding onto your normal program for 10 minutes on that one day. The other days will water for 20 minutes per the run time knob on the bottom.For your second question, it will only manual water once. If you wish to manual water again the nect day, simply turn the knob to reset, wait a second and set it to the desired manual watering time. If you would like to increase your watering fo rmore than a few days, we recommend increasing the programmed watering by turning the run timer knob to, say, 45 minutes.Please reach out to our technical services department if you have any further quesitons: techservice@ndspro.com

+Far id This may have been answered further down (I didn't get one from Raindripinc's reply, or have read further yet), but I had the same question until I realized the possible misunderstanding. "Less" means less time (best understood as less minutes). For instance, you would not want to set the frequency to 1 hour (60 minutes), then set the run time to 90 minutes; makes no sense to run it for the same (or more) amount of time then the frequency. In your case you could safely set the frequency to 24 hours (daily), and the run time to 30 minutes.
@mariajohnson1744
@mariajohnson1744 8 жыл бұрын
imagine that you set it for a Run Time of 90 minutes every hour. You'll then have 90 min of run for every 60 minutes, hence you'll have the valve opened all the time.
@JR-vb7sp

I think frequency "1" means watering every hour which has highest frequency of 24 times a day; therefore, run time has to be shorter?
@mariajohnson1744
@mariajohnson1744 7 жыл бұрын
It has the word "hours" next to frequency. Frequency 1 means every 1 hour. Run time is included in the frequency, otherwise it would add the watering time in frequency. That would be called an interval and not a frequency. example: 30 minutes of watering (run) every 1 hour means: 08:00 start watering 08:30 stop watering 09:00 start watering etc

Do I need a pressure regulator with this timer?
@john2510
@john2510 4 жыл бұрын
Pressure regulators I've seen are installed down-line from the timer, and are there to protect the hose system. So your need is going to depend on the capacity of your hose system. I would think a drip system would require it, while a garden hose with a sprinkler would not.

I had the same confusion about when the watering actually starts, but he clears the confusion up at 2:50 in the tutorial. So, with your schedule, it will begin it's first watering cycle at 5pm the next day, or 24 hours after you set it. I think the instructions should emphasize the fact that watering doesn't begin immediately after setting your program. Even if this may seem like common sense to others. It could mention that "...since watering doesn't begin until the next cycle, you will most likely want to water your plant(s) immediately. You can do so with the Manual watering feature. Here's how that works..."

How to set Manuel
@1Glennis
@1Glennis 2 жыл бұрын
Manual Watering 1. To start manual watering, set Run Time to ON. 2. To stop watering, set Run Time to OFF. 3. When done, set Run Time to desired setting. NOTE: Automatic watering will begin X hours after the Run Time dial was set; where X is the Frequency hours. EXAMPLE: You stopped manual watering at 3:00 pm then set the Run Time dial. If Frequency is 12, then next watering will begin 12 hours later (at 3am). If Frequency is 24, then next watering will begin 24 hours later (at 3pm the following day). My husband started this this morning and the manual watering started right away. He then tried it again and would not start. So I put the frequency on 1 hour and hopefully it’ll start. It would really be helpful to have the START BUTTON back especially for when one is setting up Spring drip lines and checking for leaks.

No, it is possible. When they say that the run time must be less than the frequency, they mean less, as in "less minutes." Remember that the frequency is in hours, while the run time is in minutes. Say somebody set the run time to 90 minutes, and the frequency to 1 hour (60 minutes). The tap would always be on, because the run time is greater than the frequency. The easiest way to understand this is to make sure that your frequency (in minutes) is less than your run time, which is already in minutes. Hope this helps!
