How do I use my Vauxhall electronic parking brake?

Alan shows how to use the electronic parking brake on a Vauxhall. For this he uses the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer.

Where everything becomes confusing is, why is there any option to manually turn it on when it works automatically anyways? I don't get the usefulness of that.

Am still a bit uneasy about an EPB, having only driven a car that had one once, and that was a hire car..... it kinda scares me.... guess I'm getting old...lol...

Is there an auto hold on this car? I thought you had to engage auto hold to stop your car rolling back on a hill?

Hi Calypso thanks for your question. The Auto Hold is on VW models, Vauxhall have something called HSA (Hill Start Assist) which automatically engages depending up on the gradient of the road and will hold the car in position for 2 seconds before rolling back. I didn't know my handbrake was automatic. at least I hope it's automatic I drive a Vauxhall Insignia 2014 and I was looking into what happens when button brakes and I can't move my car. knowing my look it's not automatic and I just end up dragging my car on the road. 😆 love my car hate the handbrake.

Does not cover how to use it on a hill in between two parked cars with 8” gap at the front and a 8” gap at the back, hit the neighbours car so many times as I think I have the car on the bitting point but I haven’t because living on a hill the hill start assist (0.7secs) comes into play and holds on that instead of the bitting point. Then it’s a nightmare.

Shitting myself on a hill in gear on bite pushing the brake pedal down to disengage then quickly swapping over to gas pedal when all i had to do was just drive 😂

Hi thanks for sharing ive been out today and order the vauxhall ultima now on the sheet i was given it says it has electronic parking break,so i was wondering like in your video if i forget to turn it off and try to drive of will it automatical turn of the handbreak and i can continue to drive of like u did in your video,i appriciate any advice u will give me on this and Thank you in advance,i look foward to your reply.

Most cars you need to feed a bit of gas whilst at the bite (that's what releases it) or it stays on, is the vauxhall different??

What about hill assist on insignia? How does it work? My engine is shutting off every time I want to move because brakes need 2 sec to disengage and is annoying especially when is busy

I always wonder how to you know if there’s an issue with the electronic parking brake? Like a manual lever you can feel the resistance but you can’t do that with a switch.
