In this video I'll show you how old electromagnet doorbell works.. These doorbells have been used since the late 1800's but this one was like used in the 1930's. Want to know more? Ask your electrician in West Wiltshire

Thanks! i have an old bell that I was able to make ring because of this video. I believe it may important to know which terminal is the + and which is the - and that is based on the direction on the coil wires... My bell only seems to work with a 12 volt cigarette lighter. so I think I still have much to learn :)

This is still the most effective design for a tattoo machine with some improvements like capacitors to smooth out the current etc. and potentiometers to control the dc current.

I really like those sounds produced by old bells, which had huge and heavy sound tubes in bronze. They are no longer manufactured, they would be extremely expensive. But, I was determined to have a doorbell, with those sounds. So I recorded the desired sound on a flash drive.I used a Chinese sound box, which plays a flash drive, as a doorbell. The sound volume is great as it is amplified. There is a delay of about 4 seconds between pressing the button and hearing the bell sound.I have to teach the postman, because he has to press the bell button non-stop until he hears the ding dong.

Dead simple, but still, whoever invented it over a hundred years ago was way smarter than I am.
