Squatters should not have any rights at all!! America gives too much rights to criminals while punishing law abiding citizens.

So one video where a squatter took over a woman's property, she could not get them out, because they claim to have a lease. her son told her to lease the property to him. he waited until they all left for the day, he went in change the lock put all the stuff out to the street, when the squatters returned, they called the police the son showed the police the lease and told the squatters to leave. The son then issue trespass warning against all of them so when or if they try to come back they can be facing criminal charges

I have to cHeck but I think the term “squatter” comes from The Native Americans being in America first which is really an insult to have call them squatters.

My guess is because there have actually been many properties that have been abandoned or totally forgotten about, and it's supposed to work in the favor of someone who is willing to take up and maintain such a property. I'm sure there is an actual history on it out there, though. I might be totally off

The main issue is the loopholes that exist, possibly because of outdated or poorly-written laws or possibly even conflicting laws. Some of this is not just squatting laws, though. It's tenant protections. Some squatters are very law-savvy, maybe more than many landlords. The 30-day rule the lady mentioned is a big deal. These laws also vary by state

I have monitored alarm systems in all my properties. The company calls the police to report a break in. I can be there quickly to catch them committing a felony Home Invasion. I can turn the system on/off with my phone. I am alerted when a break in occurs, when the system loses power and other things. And it is a good selling point because renters have a one-button access to a live person if necessary. Home invasions might be punishable by up to 20 or more years in prison. A home invasion where occupants are present-especially if any harm results to an occupant-could mean a life sentence. Armed home invasions also carry severe penalties, sometimes up to life in prison. And did I mention that I have a CCP.

I don't understand her advice - once cops come out because they've burglarized or robbed what will they do next when they find out its a squatter situation?
@nondescriptnyc
@nondescriptnyc 4 ай бұрын
I think the advice is that victims should not call the police, characterizing the situation “squatting.” If somebody is in the home you live in, call it “stalking.” If somebody is in the home you own but do not live in, then call it “trespassing,” “home invasion,” or “burglary.” If asked, do not say they “live” there without your permission. Do not respond if you are asked if the squatters “live” there and, instead, simply continue to characterize the situation as “stalking,” “trespassing,” “home invasion,” or “burglary.”

@@nondescriptnyc you didn't answer my question. "what will they do next when they find out its a squatter situation?"
@nondescriptnyc
@nondescriptnyc 4 ай бұрын
@@____sej It is apparently a difficult concept for some people to grasp, but squatting and criminal acts aren’t mutually exclusive. Squatting can be a byproduct of a criminal act, or squatting can lead to other criminal acts. If criminal aspects are associated with squatting, cops ARE COMPELLED to get involved. The mistake a lot of people seem to make is that they immediately characterize a situation as “squatting” and convey that to the police-at the exclusion of any possible criminal aspects. That way, cops CANNOT get involved. The presupposition underlying your question is that, if a situation involves squatting, criminal dimensions somehow get overlooked. That is not the case.
@____sej
@____sej 4 ай бұрын
@@nondescriptnyc So you're going to conjure up a story that they're engaging in a "criminal act" when you have no evidence. Then when police asks for said evidence you won't have any. You would go to such extents because your pride is hurt that people took advantage of you and squatted on your property. Get lawyers involved and do it in a lawful way.

@@____sej Thank you so much for your reply. Let me just say I don’t need to retain an attorney, but you should definitely consult with one should you find yourself in situations involving squatting if you, for some reason, cannot figure out what evidence you might present of vandalism, burglary, invasion, stalking, criminal trespass, etc. etc. Oh, wait, you said you didn’t understand the attorney’s advice…so I guess consulting with an attorney might not help you.

If you have squatters in your house, this is what you do. Lease it to a friend (back date the lease if you'd like) and have him go into the house and change the locks when the squatter leaves. When the Squatter comes back and calls the police your friend simply tells them that he's renting the place and shows the police the lease. The squatter will say the same thing. Police will tell both that it's a civil matter and to take it to court. The police will leave without making an arrest because they can't confirm who actually leased the house. You win.

If the Justice System continues to fail in serving the public people will turn to what they can do or turn to someone who can stand up to trespassers as well as whatever is left of the Justice System with bribes or intimidation. That is how Fudalism starts. It is better to be tormented by only one than by many.

No… she’s advising us on how to deal with law enforcement when it comes to squatters. Providing the key words to use vs using the word “squatters”. Essentially that’s what squatters are doing, trespassing, burglarizing, and scamming landlords. That’s how I’m taking/ looking at it anyway.

No, the attorney is essentially giving people the tools in order to get rid of such diabolicals happening on their personal property. As if America was built on Truth anyways, the entire legal system is Jaded. Moreover, one wouldn't have to use such language that you felt was dishonest if there weren't dishonest people living and trespassing on somebody's personal property and not paying rent and destroying their property #Let's not be high and mighty 😉
