coming from a ride op ~ this video is a great explanation! i just wish people understood that trains are removed because of downtime, not because we feel like it lmao
@JavaCake Жыл бұрын
I’m surprised people actually think that ride breakdowns, removing a train, etc. happen for no reason
@8bits59 Жыл бұрын
I misheard the line at 2:40 as "by use of a witch" and envisioned the ride op employing the help of a woman gripping a crystal in one hand and telekinetically working the train up the track with the other. That aside, great video! I'm a chemist by trade but i've always had a strong engineering interest, and it's fun to see how these systems are designed. Earned a sub.

As a former ride op. This was a fun part of the day esp. the railroad. The steam engine was a very involved process. Big thunder Mountain (Walt Disney World) transfer track/storage is actually of the parks railroad in Frontierland. We had a lot of Arrow's/ Schwarzkopf's @ AstroWorld.

I like the coasters with turn-table transfer tracks, looks like more and more Mack coasters are going down this route. Seems a lot more efficient than translational transfer tracks.
@ballbag Жыл бұрын
Could have nentioned a few more things here. Like various disney and universal rides have transfer tracks where there is both an "entrance" and an "exit". Kinda like a passing loop on a railway. The Big One at Blackpool pleasure beach has a VERTICAL transfer track, where the trains are stacked below the station and move upwards and downwards.

I cannot be the only person who heard the phrase "late 1900's" and thought, "wtf that's like ancient history" and then felt like I'd been stabbed in my middle-aged heart because he meant the 1980's which is only 20 years or so to me.

PLEASE do a video about fury 325 at Carowinds having an entire support break in half while the ride was in operation! I would love to hear your research. The support beam is completely vertical for that section and looks so strange to me considering the g's in that spot.

For whatever reason, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a transfer occur once at kings island, my home park, which I go to all the time. But every time I go to cedar point, (which as of now I’ve gone 4 times) I see a ride transfer almost every single visit.

There are also elevator-style transfer methods like on Mack Spinner 'Dwervelwind' in Toverland. In the station the track rises and then the train could be lowered into the maintenance area below the ride station (as far I remember)

Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World in florida has a super bizarre transfer track. I am a little confused by how it works, but BTM trains must cross the train tracks of the Walt Disney World railroad to reach the storage track, which is relatively far away from the ride and out of the view of guests.
@ballbag Жыл бұрын
On big thunder mountain there's a section of track that's lifted up like a drawbridge. It folds down and then trains can cross over the top of the railroad. BTMR also has the rotating type of transfer track pieces

Im trying to find the history of when people started putting their hands up on coasters. Seems like it would make a great video as no one has covered this topic. What was the 1st coster when people started to put thier hands up ? If you are able to find the answer please let me know, and if you make a video on it also let me know. I just have subscribed. Have a great day.

Can you please talk about the accident at Grona Lund on the jetline coaster? Probably too recent to know what happened at the moment tho so maybe in the future? All i can gather from the news is that the ride derailed and several peoole fell out and one person sadly passed away. Also the photo looks like a whole wheel block fell off so probably a maintenance issue.

You have to use a crane to take the train off of the track and bring it car by car back to the station or transfer area
@nonna_sof5889 Жыл бұрын
Depends on the coaster and where it vallied. Some can be winched to a spot they can keep going from, others need a crane.
