On a dual carriageway with central reservation, 3.5 ton van speed limit is 60mph .If your doing 68mph in your van, even though you are over limit, do they go by the normal car speed limit which is 70mph or every class vehicle will get looked into as to there speed limit ? Hi, just wondering about something in relation to the gosafe speed vans. Drove past one the last morning around 6:30 am, so it was still dark. I noticed the lights on top were flashing Amber and the interior lights were on, I could see the fella inside and pretty sure he had his back turned to the camera. Would the camera be still operating or was this a sign he was still setting up? Cheers

If you are approaching a van in distance on other side of the road on a dual carriage way. And the van is facing towards you, if you slow down to speed limit well before you pass but while you are at front of it will it clock you. Do cameras face out front and back or just side and back?

Yes, the speed guns are only for a live reference for the Gardaí to pursue you. They don’t keep your speed and reg on record.

I got a speed fine im 99.9 percent that a picture was taken before I came into the boundary of 50km reason being I past the van on my way to my destination so I knew it was there and on the way back you can see the van miles away before you hit the 50km boundary this happen to anyone do I fight it or just suck it up which is very unfair thanks

If you are driving over the speed limit towards the front of the van and then slow below the limit passing the rear of the van can you be caught for speeding by the camera?..

hi Johnny, thanks for watching! From my research, it seems that currently you can only be caught speeding from the rear of the Van. But technology can change so quickly that it wouldn't surprise me that in the not too distant future, you could be caught from the front as well. Thanks again for watching!

Potentially yes, the new vans have the ability to measure vans in both directions, but it depends on the location and each location is different. But, potentially yes.

But I slowed right down quickly then I noticed the lights flash on and off. I hope it's not a signal to say "gotcha fucker". Thing is, I wouldn't have been speeding if it wasn't for someone driving stupidly slow. Where did you get caught?

On the m50 southbound near to wicklow there was a van in the distance and big bends in the road ,can the van get you around bends ? Basically it could see my windscreen upwards when i was just doin a bit over the 100km limit ? So can it detect you around bends like that ?? Thanks in advance

Thanks for watching! There is a bit of leeway, some websites say that there is a leeway of about 10 percent, so therefore if you were doing 110kmh in a 100 zone you may be ok. Obviously I can't say for definite if you were caught or not, but once you can see the van, its likely that it can see you. Hope this helps to answer your question👍

No there is no lee way with these, you can be done for 51 in a 50, my mum was done for 64 in a 60.

It really depends, but I have seen generous leniency while others have reported very little to none at all. A lot of it also depends on the calibration of your car’s speedometer. You could be reading it as a few KPH over the limit but your true speed is a little below that.
