It's certainly a smoother and more comfortable trip. If you get on top it's a lovely little cruise back to the ship.

OMG thank you so much for this detailed information. I am new to cruising, we booked two cruises last year but we were able to get off the ship early because we booked excursions but I wondered what people were talking about when they mentioned getting up early for the tender tickets. Thank you. I know I shall never go on a cruise, but have been watching the ships online at Sydney and Duluth harbors for a while and have wondered what tenders are and how they work.

More great information! For an Australian cruise like GBR - can you take your own snack food from the breakfast buffet in tupperware to say Airlie Beach. I understand the need for bio-security but just wondering if we are at Australian ports if the rules are relaxed? thank you!

This was so helpful. Thank you for sharing. The only other question that I have is... do you know if you can pick up tickets for people in your party staying in another cabin or will they need to get their own?

If there are multiple cruise lines tendering on the same day; how do they organize the return tenders? Is there a mix of passengers from different cruise lines & make a stop for each ship? Do they do a different boat for each? If there a possibility of getting on the wrong return tender?

Hello, can you take the tender to the Port any time do you want all day long? They have a fixed time to return or you take the tender Back to the ship at any time as well?

You have answered a lot of questions I had for our first cruise. I think I have watched every one of your videos. I had no idea what a "tender" was. I thought it meant that we had to pay to get off the ship. LOL Does the rule about not bringing food back on board apply only to fresh foods or can you bring packaged foods or other souvenirs?

Hi Mark. Thanks for watching and glad to help. Anything that is pre-packed you should be able to bring back on, for example, an unopened bag of chips. Any fresh food is definitely out. As for souvenirs, it depends on what it is. Things like coral and plants are out but wood carvings may be OK, depending on how they have been made. With wood, they will generally have an indication on them if they have been treated. Is there something that you have in mind?

@@robandalicruisetravel thank you. You answered my question. Just trying get an idea of what we can buy as souvenirs.

Hi Mark. Sorry for the delay in replying. Things to watch out for as far as souvenirs are concerned are anything 'hand made', wooden or made of local products like leaves. Wooden products are generally OK as long as there are no signs of bugs having bored into them. Check that any holes haven't been covered up before you buy it though. With hand-made crafts or things like leaf bags etc. be very careful. On our recent trip a lot of these got confiscated on return as they were infected. An excellent trick that seems to work though is to take a few large garbage bags and a can of Mortein. If you are unsure about anything put the item in the bag and spray heaps of Mortein in there then seal it up. Do this a couple of times and then git the item a good shake/bang onto a sheet or towel to see if anything falls out. If it clear of anything living then you should be OK.
