@suzannas.4965 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. People think sacrifice is a HUGE thing but in this context - Dave Ramsey's get out of debt - it's for a limited time. Which makes it more palatable. Also, I think people's spending habits change during the sacrifice period and I don't think people will go back to their old spending habits. I've read his book and shortly thereafter I had to go through my "sacrifice" period and I've come out better at the end. Friends and family did not understand that I was CHOOSING to give up because I had an end goal.

No different to building up an emergency fund though. Saving 1k while you’re in debt. This guy knows he owes money. He just needs some emergency liquidity for when the baby comes, as like it or not, you HAVE to buy new things with a baby - bottles, clothes etc.

I’m frustrated I have no one to talk about money. It’s sad because I had try to speak to my family about money they got this weird look in their faces. They tell me not to worried 😦 we all going to die and don’t even enjoy that money. Others give me ideas on how to invest the lil money We have saved. My dad ask me once why my husband work so much and so hard 😂 I told him so he don’t have to work as much and as hard when he gets old he laugh and said but that’s when you work the most. And he is my father i have nothing but love ❤️ and respect for him, so I said nothing just walk away. They all think I’m a frivolous woman hungry for more money. When in reality I just want to get out of debt save for my kids education, save for retirement and have several sources of income. And on top of that my husband don’t put any interest in our budget even when I ask him to have a budget meeting. He tells me yes but never happened and I don’t want to force him I think he is a grown man and should know better. By the way I’m 29 pregnant with my 3rd have 22 k saved and a lot of debt and I can’t stop feeling guilty for have that money saved up with all the debt we have but at the same time I feel secure and safe. And My husband is about to get laid off.

Smart to point out they need to pile up all the extra money in anticipation of birth and the surrounding events. God bless them that they have an easy delivery, but as a labor nurse I saw what can go wrong daily.

This is why the baby steps are a good thing. Gives your priority and order. If you're in the debt payoff part, pay off the debt. If you're in the savings step, save. Baby throws a wrench in it, but after that keep it simple, and follow the steps.

You really can't teach anyone to be disciplined on saving, investing and spending. They are responsible to have self control and live beneath their means. Some just decide not to do it, and focus on acting rich.

Wait they has a second car. Can’t they just get a car that will run for 5-8 instead? And cut down most of the debt? I’m confused why Dave didn’t suggest this. He made it sound like his other car is nicer than the one he bought for 18, which would put him over the 50% rule....

The way I’m paying off debt is saving the total amount and then pay it off in one lump sum. That way if you ever run into problems you have the money to pay for it. Eventually you will have the money to pay everything off. Just budget your monthly expenses and be very strict on spending.

Bruh bruh speaking major facts. He said we are the gods that ppl need bc ain't nobody else telling him. And then he said that God talk to you when you angry, when you ain't got no other way but to go to him. You ever notice that when you mad as "hell" your hot? You feel a fire inside? The Bible says that God is a consuming fire. And I've really witnessed results during the times I was hot. Praise God and this guy definitely the truth.
