I would never recommend going into debt for a statue. Ones I have on preorder this year. Prime1(aloy,doomguy,Goku,Sam porter) figurama (alucard). Your my favorite statue youtuber. Keep up the great work!

Paying for them is only half the battle- then you have to figure out how to display them all! Good advice though on not letting companies hold your money for long periods of time- you're basically giving them an interest free loan at that point.

Great informative video! My wife and I are debt free (except our house), so I pay all my statues in cash. I have to admit it’s rough at times with all the cool statues coming out. Sometimes I just wanna break down and use the credit card. But it forces me to be more disciplined on which statues I wanna buy.

Interesting take on the hobby, A little off topic but important to the “statue game” is planning ahead. Avoid impulse buy and really be aware if you have the space for the next statue.

Hugo Cardoso Agreed. Also make sure the statue speaks to you and you have a special place in your heart for that character. I’ve seen some badass pieces I’ve wanted, but know I’d regret because the characters weren’t even in my top 20.

Great video... Some solid advice here for beginners. I don't collect statutes, but I do collect high end Masterpiece Transformers and Masterpiece Third-party figures. So for me, the prices aren't as steep, but the process is mostly the same. I put in my Pre-orders to reserve the piece, then once it's received and ready to ship my retailer will charge the remaining balance to my card then ship it out. Most pieces range from $150, to maybe $400. But, I'm like you I hold the cash until the item has arrived... That's my preferred way of doing business, and by doing it this way you know how much to set aside or budget for, which is key.

Sideshow does it right, payment plans, easy stretch payments when you get in on a preorder early if you know you really want the character. It’s how I can make these work for my budget. Even when items are released they will still sometimes do a 3 part payment plan with those. Lastly, they also let you do up to 3 payment postponements if you need to stretch out the payments if you need to skip a month here and there. Best advice, don’t even attempt to do this if you do not have the disposable income to collect is the best advice you gave! Great video as always Gem! 💎

I do a mix between payment plans and buying for the full amount when they are ready to ship. I have a P1 Cyborg Superman that has one more payment and a Spiderman through SS from PCS that is on a payment plan. I"m pre ordering two new pieces next week from P1 one will be on the payment plan and the other will be paid at the time of shipment.

Going to start getting into statue collecting either end of this year or some point through next year. I'm graduating from university next month and just got a graduate job working for a company that sells some sideshow pieces. Salary is decent, with a good amount of spare cash each month. And I know I get some discounts, possibly up to 60%, so that will help massively as you can imagine. Only annoying thing is they don't sell loads of them, maybe 20ish, but with a discount I can't complain. They also do payment plans, so that's what I'll probably do, like you said. Don't know if anyone else has this issue, but as someone who is massively into collecting omnis, TPBs etc., I'm finding myself torn between buying tons of them to build up my library and buying statues. That's why I might start next year instead of straight away. Getting the IKEA bestas installed and ready in my new flat though, so I am committed :)

Gem, it would be cool if you did a collab with someone who specializes in finance. You could talk about buying statues with credit cards that have cash back rewards (knowing you have the money to pay off the card of course), or setting up savings accounts with automatic deposits, etc. I think these are great habits to teach that can apply outside of the statue collection game.
