Hi, I have just started using tableau prep. This video was so helpful, thank you. I have other questions. In Tableau Prep, how do you split the date and time? Your example showed us how to split if the column has text and numbers, but not how to handle it if the column has date and time in the following way: 31/01/2022, 07:35:56. I tried to split following your instructions above, however, in the menu the clean option is not active. What would you suggest to do? Thank you

Well, clean punctuation (~2:40) in the Name column might also remove (e.g. O'Neal) necessary characters. Not a good idea.

Hi Geni! You are 100% correct. The way I usually perform these cleans in the real world is to do a blanket clean which should handle 95% or more of the dirty data. After that, using Agile, we deploy to the customer and they can quickly identify cases like this which can be regarded as rare in the data set. Through iterations, we make improvements in the code to handle these nuances :)

@@jellymaneducation6168 Thanks for your kind response. The tricky part in Europe is NAMES. They are full of first/middle names. And the last names are full of punctuation. Be that the scottish apostrophe, the hyphen for double names etc. I am a professional Analyst. Out of a larger tool set the coding free data pipeline tools I can manage are ALTERYX and KNIME.

This was recommended viewing for my advanced data analytics class, but I cannot read any but the largest words on your video. Why is it so blurry? Could you please redo it? (And why is this the case on MOST how-to tech videos? Can someone please do a "how to make a video that isn't blurry" video? :/ )

Haha tell me about it. So the reason it's blurry is because I filmed them is a long time ago before I had good software (and video editing skills 😬😬). Haha If I film a new one, what topics would you like me to cover?

You might have only Tableau Desktop. There is a paid Version called Tableau Prep Builder. But you can do a free trail at least.
