You are right about consistency and small steps leading to big results. It’s my 5th year homeschooling and first with two students. In basically 4 months my 4 year old managed to complete his kindergarten curriculum. We wasn’t planning on it, just went at his pace and he decided to finish his Math U See and kindergarten workbook before his 5th birthday. I was in shock when I realized he did it, just because he constantly asked to do multiple pages alongside his brother.

I'm really struggling with consistency and knowing what to require of my kids. I would love to know how you set expectations for yourself and your kids and how to enforce those requirements or expectations... I have a daughter who feels like a German Shepherd she needs some mental challenge or she goes towards chaos... which is great but she's 7 years old and feels the 2nd Revised Reader is too easy and she just finished Black Beauty for her own reading... how do you set expectations and know what is a reasonable to require? I'm trying to find a balance between challenging her and letting her be little...

Here are a few: 15 minute lessons, oodles of active play (especially before lessons), household chores, rocking or fidgeting while listening to books read aloud, training in sitting still, starting small and then for greater stretches of time, cutting out video games...
