Thank you for the great video. I use the low profile packout organizer with the 3D printed bins. It works great and you can customize it for anything you want to attach to your impact driver/drill. Otherwise Dewalt makes great cases as well. I agree with you, Milwaukee needs to improve those bit cases - they are a pain to use. Looking forward to more of your videos.

In my right tool belt pouch I keep a Klein multi-bit screwdriver (12? insert bits in the handle) holding a 6" locking Milwaukee locking impact bit holder. I keep a slim 3" DeWalt locking bit holder in my M12 Surge, which also has a small magnetic bit rail attached to it. I also keep a 6" DeWalt sllim bit holder in my left tool belt pouch and a 12" in my bag. I have a Railer hanging off my tool belt, which holds my short nut drivers. It's very rare that I need to go to my bag or van. Not too heavy.

I know this video is a year old, but Milwaukee has recently redesigned their bit holders and boxes.... the boxes now fit the pack-out boxes better and the bit holders are front loading rather than the older "top loading" style... if that makes sense. I love the .22 case idea for 1" bits... and they are cheap! ... about $3-$4. Would be nice if they had deeper boxes just like them for 2/3/4" bits, but ill have to stop by the gun shop and see if their magnum case holders will fit longer bits efficiently. I keep my regular use bits loose in a small husky pouch. My drill bits also ride loose in a similar pouch. Like you I despise taking the Milwaukee drill bits out of that case I had to take them out with pliers to keep from cutting myself. Not super organized but takes up little space. My main bit storage case is a dewalt multi compartment case with the removable dividers, haven’t seen that for sale in almost 2 years.

I think I had one of those Dewalt cases at one time. No telling how many different cases I’ve used over the years. I’m lucky that I am always close to bulk or specialty supplies. So if I don’t have it on me it’s not a real big deal to go get it. I like to have certain things close to keep me from doing something I “shouldn’t” with what I have for the most part. 😂 I primarily use 4 bits… no need carrying a bunch all the time. In my general bag, I keep two of the Milwaukee bit cases. One for my customized assortment of hex bits and accessories and the second is that same hex drill bit set that you showed. I have to label the top of the cases to easily tell them apart when they are sitting in my bag. I agree that getting the bits in/out of those cases is a pain. I may have to try those Dewalt cases. Looks like you can get extra inserts on eBay.

Dewalt by far makes the best bit cases with removeable racks. I store all of my extra bits in the Dewalt ones. I completely agree on the Milwaukee drill bits being my favorite and hating the case. I carry a Ridgid bit case in my bag that only has the 2 inch bits, it holds 20+- and a bit holder. I just leave a hart locking bit extension or a Dewalt locking bit extension in my Impact at all times. I will make a video soon on my new tool bag setup, and show that.

That is pretty sweet. I want to move into more service work for that reason. I want to get to the point where I pretty much use my Veto Bag and an occasional Power Tool. Right now I’m at the 6 slot Milwaukee case stage. My tool bags have a pretty big pouch on one side that fits two of these perfectly. I’m not sure what else I could put in that pocket. It was made for a small part organizer to go in there. So I’m not really sacrificing tool space since it doesn’t hold hand tools efficiently. It’s true though. 99% of what you see is going to be #2 Phillips, #2 Robertson, T25, flathead, 1/4 hex nut, 5/16 hex nut. Occasionally things will be Allen key. So most of those 40 bit sets are just for rare events. That’s why I have a small bit holder clipped to the outside of my bag that has a Phillips, a square, a flat, and a t25. And any screwdrivers I have are already loaded up with Phillips or Torx bit.

Yeah, I love their drill bits and like their driver bits. I don’t like their cases. I’ve wanted Milwaukee to come out with a Packout already loaded up with bit holders… but if they did they would use the same one in there cases so it wouldn’t do any good 😂 The Dewalt and Craftsman are much easier. The slots are also easier to move around and customize cases for your needs too. One of my favorite parts of the channel so far is reading comments and learning from others what they do. These days with the lack of people doing this work, self employment is becoming more of the way to go for a lot of people. It all depends on benefits you might lose and what you can swing. If you stay hourly you have to do more for the same money because there aren’t enough people and the work has to get done. The company is pushing social media a lot and the work with a bunch of social media channels on Instagram and KZbin. Might be worth reaching out and seeing if they are willing to get you a sample. I’m not affiliated with them so I have no idea but I see there stuff a lot online and they seem to give it out a lot to creators. So who knows

I have basic bits in my parts box , full indexes are in my rolling cart ( Milwaukee Packout ) . Like you , I believe in functional groups ! For driver bits , I have various holders attached to my various compact tool pouches/ tool bags . I have a full index , 1/16-1/2 “ in my large Veto bag . My multibit drivers , always have full magazines . That said you have to “ Police” your bit inventory !

True… I do better keeping all my bits on my tools that store bits than putting them back in the cases. I usually get them back in eventually, but I need to do better. I usually have a magnet or something they ride on while I’m working and they may stay there longer than they need to. But if you don’t keep up with it you end up missing the ones you need… when you need them.

For example , as far as the most used machine screws , for me #6 and #8 , I pretty much only carry 2” , and shear them to size with my Knipex “ Super Strippers “ ( 13/72/8’s ) . As an added bonus , these are my 90% “ Lineman’s Pliers “ . I use zipper bags in pockets , or hung of “ D” rings . I do collect tools… I enjoy having and using them and it’s “the thing” I spend my money on. We all have something. Most of my tools aren’t new. I work clean, I clean them, and I have a lot so they are in a rotation where each one doesn’t get used as much as someone who has just one. I also normally clean everything before I film them… kinda like combing your hair before a picture.. Appreciate your thoughts 👍

Indeed, they are a pain that so many of us force ourselves to go through. I need to see if I can do something to them to make the flip-up operation easier. If I can't, then DeWalt is the answer, per this video.

I use two Systainers ( T-LOC SYS 1 BOX, 497694) with suitably arranged boxes. One systainer contains drive bits, small ratchets etc, the other all kinds of drill bits. I ALWAYS take these systainers with me. Bit holders are loose in one box/compartment. Small basic sockets (6-13 mm) are loose in the next box. All kinds of bits are grouped by type and hold in these plastic hex shank bit holders. While the systainers open from the top, I have immediate access to everything I need. I don't like closed boxes within boxes within boxes - there's too much fuss with fast access to bits. Besides usually these boxes hold the bits too loose or too tight. For home/garage use I just have proper sets of rather basic bits, drill bits, sockets that NEVER leave the house. No matter what. There's nothing more American than bullet case storing bits. I wouldn't thought of it. Icelandic language have 46 descriptions of snow, because of snow "popularity" in the region. Same applies to guns and gun accessories in the USA.

I have never had any Festool Systainers.. they just aren’t easily accessible where I live to see them in person. Amazon now at least make some available where if it’s not what you expected you can at least return and swap. (I’m always a “like to see it” person) I used to have several Bosch L-Boxes and they had an organizer setup close to yours. Yours seems to be unavailable now, (or at least to me here) but Festool does have some newer versions that are similar. I also have Home/Garage tools that never leave. When they do, it never fails that they don’t make it back when I need them. Sounds like a great setup that works for you. I have yet to find the sweet spot between having too little and too much. I always try not to carry too much… but I also despise not having what I need. It might need to look into 1-2 bigger organizers and just carry them in, instead of deciding which smaller ones I need with the chance of missing something. Thanks for sharing and spending the time to type it out in detail. LOTS of useful information there.

@@MORGANSMaintenance New Systainer3 system has some flaws. I use four types of systainer systems. Two old ones (1st gen), mostly Makita Makpacs and old Festools. 4-point closing and mounting solution does not allow for an immediate access to stacked boxes. Makita tools comes with them, but I use it as a ordinary garage storage or a very backup/very emergency storage in work. 2nd gen of systainers (T-loc) is my favourite. 3rd gen - I am forced to buy them now, but I avoid some models. 3rd gen comes in two sizes - middle and large, but I use only middle. They have that humanly sizes base dimensions (30x40 cm or like 1x1,5 bananas). There are also mini-systainers, stackable however they're not compatible with the others; I used to get them as a merch and I've always been giving them away. Both 2nd and 3rd gens give you the access to any of the stacked box in the stack. I also have some drawers, but they're not my favourite. I never liked L-Boxx system because they were too bulky. That sounds funny compared to Pack-outs. The only problem with systainers is that you need to have at least 8 of them plus a cart and at least two less regular ones to see the benefit of the system. So like (taking 3rd gen): 2x112, 1x137, 2x187, 2x237, 1x337, 1x437 (great for silicones stored vertically with caps on!), one T-LOC SYS-1 box (internal boxes may be bought in separate sets and rearranged, to appreciate their usefulness buying four of them it the way to go), one T-LOC SYS-MFT (great ad-lib work bench) and a cart (SYS-RB 204869, avoid older models, newer are much better, although not compatible with 1st gen). You could also get systainer trolley (both Festool and Makita are good). So we're talking about $400-700 for starters. One very important thing - systainers are much less rugged and a bit less durable than packouts. They're also MUCH smaller. I always joked that systainers are for an European men of culture and packouts... Well, packouts are not... It's like with European and American cars. 3rd gen I really detest is Festool Systainer Organizer SYS3 ORG M 89. Unstackable (except at the very top), useless POS without top handle and a front handle that collides with T-loc closing bracket when stacked. And one last thing 1st and 2nd gens have the same incremental heights, while 3rd gen is all f..... up. So if you had shelves/cabinets arranged for the older system, you can go and f...ricking rearrange all that for the new system. In theory 3rd gens are meant to be for work van shelving and racks. In theory.

@@Stefan_Kawalec I didn’t care for the L-boxes either. I kept getting them with my tools when I was running primarily Bosch stuff. yeah most tradesmen in the USA need durable stuff or it won’t make it. A lot of that is because they work for companies and they are provided with the stuff. People tend to not take care of things that they don’t pay for. (Not always, but usually) I have noticed that the people who are finish carpenters are more the Systainer users here. Job sites aren’t as ruff at that point. I had originally thought about getting some because they would lock onto my vacuum, but the top on my vacuum was broken when I got it (part of the reason I got a great deal on it). After looking at the prices on them, you are right… it’s an investment. I thought Packout was expensive 😂. But if it works…it is always money well spent. You gave me enough Model numbers and things to look at I’m not sure I’ll get much else done today 😂😂👍

@@Stefan_Kawalec it’s the 26, I just found it for $55 shipped to me and ordered. Thanks for the part #. It will be nice to hold my hose, I currently use straps on a handle. I got mine in Lowes and they still had them in store last time I was in there. I haven’t been able to find them on their website or app to give a link (Lowes search feature is the worst). I got mine on clearance a long time ago, but they were $35 when I saw them. They have different bits in them than what I have in mine. I just used the case and holders to make my own set. I just tried searching again for Craftsman bits, craftsman bit case, craftsmen case, etc, and still can’t find it in their app. At my Lowes it has always been on the bottom shelf where the bit cases are. Sorry that I’m not a lot of help. Next time I’m in there I’ll see if I can get an item number.
