I remember getting this question back in the early 80s when I was new to the corporate world. Thankfully I got through it but it would have been so helpful to have your insight. If only your course were taught senior year of high school. All those new grads getting summer jobs, starting their journey in the real world, would have such an advantage that would carry through for years to come. Brava Petra!

Thank you so much for these encouraging words, Debbra! Throughout the years as a HR leader, I’ve seen so many incredibly talented individuals loose out on job opportunities because the lack of knowledge, experience and/or confidence during the job seeking process. I’d really like to change that, so that more people can land a new job fast. Everyone wins when a talent are able to articulate the value a company will gain by hiring them.

That's a great question (thanks for asking it)! Production time means the time you set aside to do the work. Most of the time, in a corporate environment, we are running from one meeting to another (or rather, drop off one zoom call to immediately attend another). And rarely do we have time to sit down at our desks and do the work we agreed to do in meetings. That's what scheduling production time is all about - setting aside time in your calendar to do the work. For example, your manager assigns different action items (or work tasks) to team members in a meeting. Often, this assignment is accompanied by, "This needs to be done by date X." If you got assigned a task, you might quickly estimate that it will take you two hours without interruption to complete this task. So you block out that time in your calendar so no one can drag you into another meeting or think you are available for other things. Instead, they can see on your calendar that you are busy during that time. Does that help?
