That's really useful information, spot on! 👍 I've recently found a local spring which is fenced off from any sheep above it and was wondering how I could filter it without using expensive filter bottles that don't last that long. One of these bags and some boiling should do it. Easy peezy, but don't squeezy! 😁 Perfect thanks, excellent and informative video as always! 👌

I know where you mean. I've drank an untreated mark. A water purification would survive there as it's a mountain stream They r about 3.00 on Amazon for a 100. I've used them drinking water from cefn mably Mark...

So you are the second person to use a millbank bag. are they still available? dont think it would work where i am because most of the water here is brackish. but 1 would be a bit of useful kit .

I think that I read that the Millbank Bag was issued to our lads in Burma in 1944 along with the 44 Pattern aluminium water bottle, pouch and sterilisation tablets. Some original bags can still be found, but better to avoid as they might have been used for filtering oil etc. I have two, one is a Brown's Bag and the other is possible Greencraft, but both canvas not those nylon things he is passing off. Thing, is where they were designed for didn't have intensive farming like we do. Unfortunately, my natural ground water sources are full of insecticides, pesticides, nitrites and nitrates, bad things that ordinary filters and boiling won't remove and only Reverse Osmosis will reduce greatly, but it's too much for field work. In an emergency, I would follow what you recommended, but otherwise, I go to places where I see it bubbling up out of the ground and know it is a trusted sources. Probably why folk of old preferred alcohol.

Haha I love that last sentence 😄 yes first used in Burma by us Brits. Are they really being passed off in Nylon ! That's shocking 😲

I've never used one of these before, my question is, can it be used? Let's say over a couple of days out hiking ,could you swill it out in the river for the next day
@outsidertank11 ай бұрын
Sure you can. But always carry either a filter, as well as chlorine tabs also. It's a great way to lessen the weight of your pack by not carrying water to camp. Take the water as far up stream as your prepared to walk Paul mate...

Another great video brother, can’t go wrong with a mill bank bag, I’ve got a grayl filter but still pass the water through a mill bank bag before to take out the bigger bits of crap, prolong the filter life, keep up the good work bruv 👍🏻

Nice video Tank. I've never heard of these bags before. I personally won't be getting one as I have terrible IBS, so I always have to carry all of my water from the tap to camp. Still great to learn about it though. 👌 👊👍
@outsidertank11 ай бұрын
Lol I never drink tap water, it's more contaminated than that stream water Ger. Are you taking slippery elm that helps a ton mate honestly....
@boyzinthewood111 ай бұрын
@outsidertank never heard of that mate. I'll check it out 👊👌👍. Its probably tap water that's caused it tbh, but I'm probably like a serious alcoholic, where if I stopped drinking it, I'd die 😳 😅
@outsidertank11 ай бұрын
@@boyzinthewood1 ohh Gez get the slippery elm from Amazon. I studied IBS on a Nutrion Diploma. You will see the benefits immediately. I hope I've helped mate. I know you will benefit...👌
