Callum, I have loved your videos for ages I still remember when I first discovered your channel, I was actually really excited. Earlier in my working like I work in the commercial communications industry. I was locally known for sorting out antenna issues for people. Haven't done that for years now. I have 2 impending reasonably serious surgeries this year and currently restricted to my hustler vertical. I have both a 49:1 and a 9:1 awaiting setup. Order placed!

There’s a saying in the aviation industry, “Anything is possible, it just costs more money.” I love what you guys are thinking about and all the while trying to keep it affordable. Keep up the great work gentleman. Cheers from Moose Jaw. Tim VE5THF

DX Commander works so well! Today during winter field day a buddy of mine brought his QRP rig w five watts, connected to the classic, and was able to hit Michigan from Fort Worth Texas. Approximately 1200 mi or 1931 km. Not too shabby!

I'm interested to see where this goes and it it ends up still being economically feasible. And yes, I understand "economically feasible" is a relative term.
@DXCommanderHQ10 ай бұрын
You are still looking at about $1000 I guess, complete.
@williammyers-ka8gim97810 ай бұрын
@@DXCommanderHQ Thanks! That price is certainly feasible, especially when you think about the price for a tower, rotator, etc for a Yagi antenna.
@chublez10 ай бұрын
@DXCommanderHQ Might be a tough swing Fer some but a good deal better priced than a tower+ and I'd bet easier to move and more likely to get approved by the landlord if yer a renter.

Has anyone experimented with feeding an inverted Vee using Christman phasing, but vertically instead of with two masts, with four wires on one mast to flatten the radiation pattern? They would need to be separated by a quarter wavelength. I'm envisioning a 30-meter mast with quarter-wavelength spacing.

Sounds like a similar system to K3RL on his 160m.. But he didn't use that method.

Cal, parasitic array. Folding back the wire to make one wire for a few frequencies. Is that possible? I am thinking 10m through to 20m as reflector and director for the DXC. Cheers, G

I guess you could..! Yes.. Good idea. (assuming I have the right idea!)

For your direction as drawn, it’s 0,-90,-90,180.
@shanerorko807610 ай бұрын
I was thinking, if you had an active array, it could be done. Basically, have the RF come into 4 separate amplifiers that can be adjusted over 1080°. You would need 1080° because if you phased the array at 1/4 wave on 40m, then 20m would be half wave so it would be 0,-180,-180,360 to make up for the difference than 15m would again increase in proportion to the wave to keep the array square. How an amplifier gets made that can phase shift that much I don't know. But I imagine it would be expensive, then times expensive by 4.

Sorry for the listening side, you would just do the same in reverse with LNA's.

BANG !!! what the hell was that ( wife says ) oh... its just my brain exploding love... can you get the mr muscle out and some kitchen roll... This is clever stuff and you need a lot of space... my back garden is 10mtrs square if that... I said something about a DX Commander the other day to her...I said its not big..." Shut up, dont tell me anything else, NO, dont show me any pictures. When you think your getting it,,,talk to me then" LOL ITS great to watch your R&D Cal /John / Mike but I'm asking my doctor for a new brain 😮... Best wishes to all. 73 💙
