Please make more videos about substation equipment, this is very informative :) I'm a new substation engineer at a engineering firm, and seeing the anatomy and functionality of the cabinet is really helpful.

I'll put some more stuff out about equipment for sure👍

Haha! It's not for everyone, that's for sure! 20 years in, and I'm still enjoying it!

@@reusefull That's awesome!! My dad was an electrician, and for the longest time, I thought that's what I wanted to do. He had his share of horror stories from working for the subway system. Glad I realized I was way too absent-minded and would likely have ended up a statistic.

I can lose track... we all can. I'm fortunate enough to work in a shop that's pretty safety oriented. Slow and steady is the pace.... that wins the race. Hope you found a career that works for you. @@e4m7g6

I work for a utility not in T&D few months ago I was at a power plant near a switching yard they opened up the breakers have those swing down switches with the balls on the end that big plasma arc. There are videos of those on YT first time seeing it in person could smell something in the air might have been ozone from the arcing I was at least 200 yards away from the switch yard fencing.

I like switching the 345kv yards, they have a nice bark to em

Having exposed linkage to the elements to the front covers between phases seems like a bad design?
@reusefullАй бұрын
@@MannsWoodlandPerspective I haven't seen a problem with that linkage failing yet, but I see what you mean.

Can you make a video describing the various conditions when the CB of high voltage trips
@reusefull8 ай бұрын
Sure, I'll work on that.

so it will mechanically open on a zero cross?
@reusefull8 ай бұрын
I don't think it's timed with a cross, but the action of tripping is about 2 cycles, so a zero crossing will occur during the trip. I honestly haven't worked on the ABB style breaker very much, but the interphase mechanism is visible, and visible from the mechanism side of the breaker, so I thought it would be a good one for show and tell.
@andremantovani8 ай бұрын
Kind of, by using current and voltage transformers, the IED/relays calculates the zero crossing, considering control cable lenght, and the circuit breaker timings.
