Hey everyone, the RSS Formula Hybrid 2022 is now out too for Assetto Corsa. Early impressions are it's an excellent car, and there isn't much to choose between it and the VRC Formula Alpha in my opinion. If anything the RSS car is a bit more forgiving and immediately accessible. But there's so much depth to these cars that is just an initial reflection. Check it out if you're interested!

I love the porpoising in the vrc car because it gives me a challenge in making a fast setup while not porpoise to a level that is undrivable. It brings a whole new depth to setup works and it makes it more rewarding to learn how porpoising works in the game.

I done a vid comparing F1 22 to AMS2. To be honest, I found very little similarities between the two. The F1 22 version was very numb, FFB was terrible and no real useable detail through the wheel (Fanatec DD2). I also found oversteer in F1 22 quite random, and you didn't know you had it until you could visually see the car starting to slip. In all cases, in order to catch it, the answer was to upshift. AMS2 by comparison was very engaging. It actually felt like driving a car. It was way more immersive from a driving perspective. The FFB was in a different league entirely.

5:34 Porpoising actually can be simulated in F22 or at least was simulated by codies but they chose to disable the feature and gave the response of, because whilst it was possible, the player would ultimately get bored and fustrated with it and would want to turn it off so it’s a waste putting all that effort in for it eventually to be turned off, plus it’s something that’s not actually meant to be there in real life and the teams/ FIA are doing the absolute most they can to get rid of it so why would you want it in the game when it’ll probably be gone at the end of the season. The final reason was to do with the career mode upgrades and what team you drive for, porpoising would either be there for the long run and would be a pain in the ass to fix, or gone instantly depending on how you chose to upgrade around it or just straight up fix it, plus some of the upgrades might not even work at all and would just make the car worse and the player more annoyed. Personally I’d want the challenge of having to upgrade around it, or really having to dial in the set up for it, things going wrong and taking time

Understandable. However, if we the players want the full experience, let us be the decider. By reading what you said, I can tell you have a very limited idea of what the players love and enjoy. I in particular would want seasons of career modes whereby the whole grid starts with the feature, then have the right setups and new engine upgrades to sort it out. Assetto Corsa does have this mode and I haven't heard one complaint. In fact, fans are praising it. Paying £80 to get half of the experience each year isn't really cheap. And please get rid of the IKEAF1LIVE, please. it's useless. If I knew f1 2022 was going to be this bad, I wouldn't have wasted my penny. As a huge fan of the game, I am disappointed in many things. You should do this comparison again next month with the 1.4 update for ams 2. They have confirmed it for next month, and it will have massive improments to the tire model and just the general physics

If Asseto Corsa VRC has the most demanding physical experience and requires more time, effort and dedication to master as opposed to the plug-in and play versions, then by definition, VRC does it best because I am positive that real F1 cars require exactly that.

in a podcast thing that codemasters did with david greco (handling designer for the f1 games) he did say that porpoising is possible in f1 22, but they specifically changed the physics to stop the aero stalling under the diffuser at higher speed to prevent it. no way of telling if thats true, or just an excuse for the game engine not being sophisticated enough to simulate it.

Besides, only a couple of teams have porpoising issues (none of them in Austria I think), and teams have been told to adress that issue, so it makes little sense to implement that feature if it soon doesn't exist in the real F1 anymore

Great comparison! Actually I like the ACFL F1 cars for Assetto Corsa the most. That mod is expensive but they exactly recreated all 10 cars and liveries and they drive amazing. They also have settings for drivetrain in the setup which I think the VRC is missing.

For Assetto Corsa you need: 1. Content Manager 2. Custom shaders patch 3. Sol 4. Vrc or RSS F1 car Lots of tutorials and super easy.

I have Assetto Corsa the standard game but no wheel or any mods. I have no clue how to get into this game (not just the F1 mod). I can’t even understand how to play it with a controller it just doesn’t work :c

@@StonedNoob Does your controller sync with your pc? On my xbox 1 controller once I synced it I was able to change a setting in content manager to select gamepad. I'm assuming there is a place in the standard game settings to do the same.

Has to be difficult and realistic. That's why I only race modified AC. Sounds like you were saying AC is the best from a simulator perspective. And I have this car. I'll be buying the RSS next but the VRC is properly engaging and a massive challenge physically, especially in VR and with motion! Exactly how it should be!

I’d say AC is probably the most accurate, AMS2 is the best for online races and F1 22 is best for offline racing with its official licence, decent AI and career mode.

I've played them all: iRacing, AC, rf2, Automobilista... but ASR Forumula AC mod (1992) still provides me the most enjoyable F1 racing. It feels incredibly good. Codemasters games are really enjouyable but they're not on the same planet with AC when it comes to physics and force feedback.

Hey Chris - cheers for checking the vid out buddy. I just don’t have enough experience with VR. Raced both AMS2 and AC in it a long time ago with a Quest, but don’t have the setup anymore to do a VR review or reflection justice these days. I agree it can be awesome, although judging by DDFs stream of F1 22, there’s a few bugs for them to work out on implementation!

Hmmm I'm not sure it is too much better to be honest. If anything traction is more challenging especially at low speeds, and the car can go round with relatively little warning. I've found you can get used to it, but it's not as intuitive as other sims in my opinion.

It's improved, but you still don't have much "edge of grip" feedback from the cars at all. And you still have that weird goofiness where if the tire spin up, they feel like 500lb flywheels with crazy rotational momentum.

I am not really fussy with F1 cars in all three of the games and I being from the US, I am more of a Indycar follower and not much of F1. Assetto Corsa is always my go to game with many different cars and tracks and improved graphics by 3rd parties. I haven't played AMS 2 that much yet and I don't know if they have all the correct F1 tracks to do a series, but I enjoy the game. I just got F1-22 this weekend on sale and drove around my favorite track-Australia. I haven't compared the driving experience like you have in all 3 of the games, but I know each has its own characteristics when driving. Is F1-22 realistic or better than previous versions, I have no idea, but I am not a complete fanatic on realism and got the game because this F1 game now has a VR option. If future versions/years of F1 do not provide VR, this will be the only one I will have. All three games I race with a VR headset and enjoy the in cockpit views of the cars. Between the VRC and the new RSS F1 2022 car I have NO desire to buy F1 22.. AC has any track you can ask, some are paid mods and well worth it.. The AC modding community (Race Department) is fucking wonderful. I still want to try iRacing.. One of these days, I just cant peel myself away from AC.. I also have rFactor 2 and AMS but I rarely use them. Its AC's fault, its too damn good!

Well not having F1 2022 and having no intention of buying it I will not even mention it. The VRC mod in AC is exceptional, take it for a run at Baku, my eyes were still bouncing at turn 2 after the long straight. I like the way you can eliminate the majority of Porpoising by finding a smooth path, hit a bump though and the rodeo begins. I find this car a challenge but it breathes quality and rewards precision. In contrast the AMS2 version feels tame, is far too easy to get up to speed in and becomes quite dull after a few laps somewhere. RR still have to deliver their attempt at the 2022 car, which will probably be somewhere in between VRC's & AMS's. Embarrassing for the industry but I choose the 9 year old sim's variant over the latter day attempt in every department. With regards to AC being a pfaff, I disagree, to play you will have the base game, yes you have to pay VRC but most things in life are not free. Anyone driving AC these days will already be running Content Manager, Custom Shader patch and Sol, so any mods are just thrown into CM and it does it's magic, if there is an easier way to mod software, I sure as hell have not found it yet. So all you are left with is the real world liveries which add nothing to the driving experience, just the immersion. Took less than a minute to find, download and install the liveries.

Not long to wait for RSS's take on the car too as well as RaceRooms! re. the pfaff - I know what you mean and I think for many sim racers it won't be a problem, but it does require alot of commitment to get the game looking and playing as I have it, and I reckon for some that will be a barrier when there are other titles out there. You're right that if you're already into AC you probably have done that heavy lifting already, but lots won't be.

The RSS X 22 is outdated compared to the VRC mod, but I think the new Hybrid 2022 is pretty similar to the VRC. It is easier to drive and it has less porpoising, but they're both great.

the reason for porposing not being in f1 22 is because if they added it everyone would work to get rid of it to be quicker. and we know that eventually the real cars won't have porposing. so they decided not to add it. it's not due to limitation as any physics engine can simulate that which isn't that hard. just once the car bottoms out cut the downforce and the ride height goes up producing downforce until the next bottoming out. I hope some one could make a mod for porposing just for fun but right now in F1 22 when you ride too low the downforce reduces lowering performance in the corners

I have both AC VRC 2021 and F1 2021 game and on that alone I can tell you that F1 games are for arcade players and AC for Sim racing. The fact that you have Proposing on VRC car and you can actually tune it out (Accept if its a Merc 🤣🤣🤣) Shows the lvl of depth VRC goes to. Assetto Corsa without a doubt my go to for Sim racing and loving the 2022 cars of VRC. Fun fact my 15 year old prefers F1 2021 and I have no doubt why :)

For me, the feeling on AC with the VRC alpha 2022 is so much finer and better. On the other hand, time must be spent settling the FFB. And when it's well adjusted, it's happiness :) and graphically, AC corsa is beautiful if you have CM, CSP, Pure and all the right Mods and good settings. Just in my opinion. Excuse my English guys

The reason I would choose F1 22 over the alternatives is the ease of use and complete set of tracks and drivers for the season, and a car that resembles the '22 cars unique design details instead of 1 car model with skins. Not needing to use mods, or Assetto Corsa's AI is worth something, but is it really worth dropping $80? Especially when I already have other F1 titles to run a MyTeam or standard career mode... not for me. That could buy a lot of DLC for a sim. Also, the F1 series really just feels like they're reselling us the same thing with a bit of new polish from previous year(s), it just doesn't seem like it has enough value imo.

I've used the formula hyrbrid x 2022 evo (the prototype) which was really great. but a lot of people, including myself, got f1 22 for the f1 experience. Yes the game is arcadey but it has smarter AI a decent career mode, and it feels like were watching an f1 race as were playing it

You didn't mention about Copse on the F1 '22 review. To me that's where that game is all wrong. You definitely can't take Copse flat and when I played it you couldn't even take the first corner sweepers (Abbey?) flat! It felt like the car was damaged to me on F1 '22.

AMS2 seems to be best drive, but I don’t mind F1 2022 cuz its immersive for the F1 experience. Either way, both games are fun, and I’m sure AC is fun as well.

Probably won't bother with either of the F1 versions to be honest, I like watching F1 but I don't find the games very engaging. Another sad thing is that if you like me have access to the champions edition on origin (du to being a ea play pro subscriber) you will not be able to race against users who own the game through Steam (which most of at least my friends will do if they get the game). That crossplay will not be possible until later in development which sucks.... there's noway I pay for the game twice just to be able to play with friends. I will probably stick to ACC instead =)

Personally the worst part of F1 Life is the lack of content. They advertised it as this big new feature but ive already unlocked every super car and Im still earning tokens...so DLC? I mean it just feels lifeless. The "home" furnishings are tacky and "Instagram influencer" esque. I kinda hate it but I enjoy the racing so much I pretend its not there lol

Ha it’s a great point mate. I also just wish they’d invested the time in better livery and sponsor customisation for your MyTeam car. The livery templates are still pretty rubbish really, and sponsor placement should be open to editing.

As stated- Not many of us have, is, or will ever be driving an actual F1 car. Hence if i as an very, very, very casual sim-racer can jump into a game and within an hour of gameplay be somewhere near 1:27.369 witch is the official lap record of last weekends track at silverstone i would uninstall the game and never play it again. Now if i would play a game that within 6 hours of gameplay would provide me with information through the ffb and the in-game physics that would let me understand what i did wrong last lap and how to avoid it next lap and be within 5 secs of above track record- now thats a game i would return to. I have driven pretty much every sim there is from "Grand Prix Legends" back in the early 2000s to AMS, AMS2, Project Cars 1&2, Asseto Corsa, RF1, RF2, Rbr, Dirt Rally 1&2. AMS1&2 and Raceroom, nothing captivates me more than good and consistent FFB info to keep me going. I haven't tried Iracing so i cant comment on the physics and FFB in that game but for me RF and RF2 is the king of FFB and physics The ultimate game for me would be if AMS2 Graphics had an lovechild with the physics of RF2 and then adopted the modding community of Assetto Corsa and after that had an affair with the sound and adaptable Ai from RaceRoom. Hey Alan, yeah this is a disappointing element for sure. I could buy in to the fact they can't do them all in one year, but it'd be good to see a bunch prioritised for each release until eventually they were. Or for new tracks to get that treatment at least.

I just found this interview with the lead handling designer of the Codemasters F1 series, and he said that it would be possible to add it into the game, but it would be very difficult to balance everything out (e.g. career R&D) & appeal to the casual audience. I like when a car give me a lot of feedbacks. This is why I don't drive this car even in AMS2, I choose different cars. The fact that you say this car give you the least amount of force feedback compare to others is enough a turn off for me. Add to the fact that there so many complaints on the review for F1 22 in VR, there are too much red flags on this game to warrant a full purchase. Avoided!

Yeah the FFB of the car itself in F1 22 isn’t too bad - the big missing thing is the track feel. I mean it could to a degree be the nature of most FIA Grade 1 circuits, but it feels more likely to me it’s due to lack of laser scanning. Kerbs feel nice this year though, and are a big deal with the cars running lower to the ground! VR does indeed seem to be a mess according to reviews I’ve seen.

F1 it's by far the best of the best when it comes to pure modern f1 experience on Xbox series X Yes the cars f1 cars in assetto corsa are better but the last one it's from 2010 I love the driving physics/ handling in the first Ac but like I said when it comes to modern day f1 , we only have the f1 games and they are the best

@@ueberlicht_ Have you seriously compared bloody raceroom and a semi-arcade AMS2 to the absolutely most developed sim racing title physics, handling, tyre-model wise? I had the chance to use it for 3 months as someone who has put over 1000 hours into AC, ACC, etc and iracing just feels a notch more intuitive, more realistic to my real-world on-track experience. You feel the limit and the tyres and it's the only ever sim in which I could literally put constant lap-times (hundreds of seconds precise, if not more) for whole races

@@darwinLee81283 Never heard of the nickname, but sure lol, ffb is perfect if you have driven multiple vehicles. I suppose you have tried the MX-5? My brother owns one and we went to a Croatian track Grobnik multiple times with it, the feeling on the wheel is 1 on 1. Perfect. Light, not as much feedback as you would expect, etc. It was perfectly light. Now, I guess you are used to those horrenderously stiff FFB effects like on different sims, all the way up to gross F1 by Codemasters. I also see a Mustang on your profile picture. Trust me, most of these cars don't have the steering column as stiff as certain american muscles. Also, the FFB in Mercedes W12 is mind-blowing, you feel a lot, a lot more than in any different sim. Now, it also depends on the wheel you have. Belt-driven, direct drive, etc.

For me it will be F1 22, I own the VRC mod and AMS 2 is actually my favorite race sim but AC's ffb is imo really bad, I swear I just can't feel shit through my CSL DD when oversteering and it just ruins it for me, it's also terrible when it comes to features like DRS, different types of race start, etc so I've just given up on the sim. AMS2's custom AI is also leagues better than AC but the F-Ultimate Gen2's 3D model is just terrible, like even F1 Manager 22's car look more detailed, it's also actually illegal in multiple ways. I just can't, Reiza's F1 22 car looks like it's 50% finished and every time I look at it it makes me feel bad. So for me it's F1 22, I'm not also waiting to see how RaceRoom's car will look, sound and performs.

If it's harder to drive for you, that doesn't mean it's awful ;) 1.2 is the perfect state, the tyres work as intended (the temperatures, the way I put heat into them and the way I take care of them), the C type aero setup finally isn't overpowered and it actually has less downforce as intended, corresponding to no bottoming out as it should. You probably won't be able to put in as good laptimes as before and all that with more training, but it doesn't mean it's godawful, it only means you are not competent to drive it at the level.

I do not like driving around with no traction control in sim.. I like driving GT way more on laser scanned tracks with full fidelity force feedback and awesome car sounds that have character.. F1 has no laser scanned tracks it is just some generic programmed FFB.. For the real driving experience just stick with Assetto Corsa.. I consider F1 more like PS4 arcade like overpriced racing game ripoff just like the FiFa franchise.. The true car loving Passion and dedication can be found in AC and ACC, but for the people who want to drive cross eyed between there halo by all means do so.. Even Max Verstappen does not play the F1 game in his spare time, he also likes to drive GT in Assetto so go figure.. Also the best handling up to date F1 cars can be driven in Assetto, lol XD..
