Dave's comment about not wanting his Autism to be corrected with a therapy reminds me of mathematician John Nash (A Beautiful Mind) he said the same of how schizophrenia was a necessary component to the way his mind processed mathematics. Also, when the condition was discovered in his son, he found it gave him more resources for helping him.

My attacks are usually multi day/week attacks. I would never do a zero day attack because that is a waste of my time to write a code to only take down something for less then a day.

I wonder if the problem with a windows pro version without advertising is that those people with money who would pay for it are the people advertisers want, the poor people without money / willingness to spend money are not the advertisers target.

I am wondering if you have any comment regarding the prices realized from the auction of the Paul Allen collection a couple of weeks back? I know I was floored when I saw what the Apple Lisa Twiggy sold for... as well as the price of the Byte magazine collection! Thanks and really enjoy the channel(s)!

@Daves' Garage/Attic/Basement/Workshop : Dave there's something wrong with your audio again (this is the 2nd time this happens in the Q&A show, the first time was a couple weeks ago, see my comment about it in that video's comments, check it for a more detailed description of the audio issue). Please check your audio hardware and software because something in the audio chain is causing issues !!!!! (microphone, cables, audio interface, software, software plugins, ...)

It's likely a function of the fact we're streaming rather than recording live to HD, but am working to improve it!

Trick Question? Microsoft doesn’t find them, security researchers do. They might even build some of them in on purpose…

Somewhere along the line, I missed that you had acquired an original IMSAI. If you don't have any luck printing switch handles, I may be able to provide a few original red ones.

That recall thingy and what you say about Windows, my opinion is that there are no companies that really cares about desktop computing. Microsoft is so deep on those services so I see Windows same way as Android. They just want to put something between user and Internet services, and use that "desktop" as advertising platform. Desktop is useless even for most users because it is usually only extra steps to launch browser. World has strongly went to model where client is "browser" and server is "container". So much that it usually doesn't matter what "OS" is on each side. Big companies of course want to build "ecosystems", sharing same cloud authentication and native applications for their ecosystems, but eventually real killer app for users is that how they can see files on their devices with less effort, and that is services that connects their devices. So most of the stuff is just more crap and that irritate many users. I also think that "Windows Pro" should be something like decrapified version without restrictions.

Windows is becoming a joke now... this will just push people to stick to older versions or make the jump to mac/linux.

Do you find it strange or difficult to be in a room by yourself talking to no one but a camera and a microphone?

Less so when Glen is on the call! It'd be weird streaming alone though.

Wow... Windows ISN'T FREE though. OEMs PAY for windows. What the heck... am I missing something? Don't make the user the product!! Enough is enough, stop trashing the product and user experience to squeeze out every friggin cent. I hope ruining windows tanks their market share, and kills it once and for all. I used to love windows, back in the day. I haven't used it in over 10 years now. $99 for a retail home license, $199 for professional retail license I'm fine with. But having all these terrible things bloated in for the RTM / OEM version wouldn't be okay either. and $300 is too much for a windows license.

The United States military utilizes Windows Operating Systems, knowing advertising is completely eliminated as it is a security vulnerability. Done!

Why isn't Windows free? Every other OS is free.
@ralfbaechleКүн бұрын
With Apple you pay for the OS as part of the computer. It's not free. With Windows the OS often is part of a bundle price when buying a complete system. Which gets me to fume because I don't use Windows. Ever. So it should be a separate product, free or not. But I don't want to be forced to pay for it as something I would format anyway. But back to Windows. Even if it was free that would be an illusion. Then the cost for the OS would be part of applications and services. Which creates the case were Microsoft might not be able to make any money if a copy of Windows is only used with 3rd party services and software. With Linux in all its variants the matter is even more complicated. The license GPL license for the kernel and many components allows every user to distribute a copy of the software for free or a charge. Typically users are convinced to pay by including extras such as update and support services, something which in particular enterprise users find a good deal. Other distributions have multiple product lines, a free and commercial one. etc. etc.
