Thank you for making this, Ryan! Many people who put their trust in Astrology lack the scientific background to _feel_ convinced by scientific reasoning. Instead, Astrology often _feels_ right thanks to psychological phenomena such as the Barnum effect. An "experiment" which has been more effective in reasoning with people who believe in Astrology is to read them *all* of the horoscopes at the end of the day, and only after asking them which one was "the right one". In my experience this has been more effective than any other attempt at using logic (or Statistics) to explain why it does not work! 😂 Also: The Ophiuchus! 🐍

Feelings are definitely hard things to overcome especially with logic! If I'm ever lecturing a first year astronomy course, I'll remember to use that example! It's not Ophiuchus!

This is such a bonkers article. I'm a Pisces and was so strongly affected by Pluto in retrograde that I had a two whiskey lunch and had to nap it off. At least these numbers from the fortune cookie are a sure thing.

I don't care about astrology, but what a trend the last year, at least in my country. And, because is trendy, people think that "get it" and basically reafirm any prejudgment to anything saying "of course, is because mercury retrograde", but they never said "wow, astrology told me this and ends happens exactly the contrary". I believe there's something complacent to who believe in astrology, like "is not my fault that I can't accomplish that, look to mercury to blame, is not me".

As an Aries, I do feel very ‘tested’ by this article. Pluto may influence my life in the short term as I try to find any evidence of its apparent ‘vibrations’, if found I have the feeling how they compare to all the other sound waves will probably be a similar ratio to your calculations!! Tom Scott's saying "There is no algorithm for truth" comes to mind. When searching for Jupiter - Saturn conjunction nearly the only videos that pop up are astrology nonsense. I also got some other astrology recommendations from google/ youtube

Easily the best! While things like astrology seem fine when people don't really believe it, but they can cause real harm as soon as people start believing. I only heard about the Reagan astrologer recently while reading Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World, and I was certainly amazed that it happened.

I remember in the university (we had sometimes free newspapers) and one friend was looking to the horoscop only to made some laughs! And that prediction, is so ambiguous, that it's simply random...

Very good point! I hadn't considered the bold future that awaits astrology in a multi-planetary society. I wonder if they will further divide the zodiacs by the world you were born on? Hopefully Pluto will guide the astrologers to make appropriate changes when the time comes!

Dude I was curious about testing the equation about the moon because we are talking about something that is strong enough to cause tide and you should have check your math. The moon have a g acceleration of 3.31x10-5. So even if we were making love to each other at 1cm distance your gravitational pull would be only 4.6x10-7. And my guess about your question is Aquarius, I have another guess is that you pick the description of your own sign.

Astrology is nice because it gives people both sense of worth and excuse for their behavior at the same time. I am Leo and I am natural leader (it will show up soon... soon) and when i behave like a coont it is because I am competitive as every Leo is (not because I behave like a... coont)

If astronomy hadnt "discovered" Pluto astrology wouldnt have even known about it, and since Pluto has been around for the entirety of human history any predictions made before 1930 should be wrong since Pluto woudnt have been taken into account. As a side note I would bet that ceres (also not visible to the naked eye) would have more of an "effect" (gravitational or otherwise) on humans than Pluto would. [EDIT: I guess I should watch the video right to the end BEFORE I write a comment seeing as how you said the exact same thing right after I wrote this and got back to the video LOL. In my defence, if I dont write it down right away its gone.]

Oh man, you're tackling the problems that are way out of your league. After this slightly ironic video, you shouldn't be surprised if you suddenly hit a phase of misfortune. Won't recommend you buying lottery tickets anytime soon. But regarding Pluto's (or any other planet's) influence - people's beliefs affect their lives. Even if they're not right about something - nothing keeps them from acting like it. And horoscope people are getting smarter too. I've grown up on anecdotes about horoscopes where predictions were usually like "Scorpions have high chances of finding a pot full of gold coins this month, and the other signs have low chances of that" but now they say more about feels, urges to do something, or higher chances of succeeding in something. You literally can't be wrong with these. I won't be surprised if people who believe in horoscopes actually change their lives for the better thanks to their belief in success during some celestial events. And BTW, my answer is Virgo. Have no idea why
