On James’ point about praising Saka. The word I would use is consistent. Not flashing or sexy just gets the job done. I would say Saka is the “Man City” of players. Many City games aren’t very memorable. Not because they aren’t a very good team but because they get in and get out with a 1-0 win. You might not be able to pick out many amazing Saka performances across a season but his numbers speak for themselves. 20:57

Substance over style is what you were looking for I think James - re Saka. He very rarely yo yos from a 9 one week to a 4 the next, he’s a 7-9 every week for club and country. Absolute gem. And it’s not to say it isn’t exciting watching him he’s not a Milner type winger he’s exciting without compromising on the basics
@nicchan113 ай бұрын
James, I think i understand what you mean to say for Saka: People say that theres no winger like the old school days where the winger’s ability is right on the face but Saka’s strengths are that of a modern winger, very physical not much stepovers or tricks. He is the form of what a Modern Winger should be imo

Saka has functionality in his game is what james was trying to say. As well as the smooth dribbling, the goals and assist, Saka has the intelligence to perform duties on the pitch clearly set out by the coaches. Not every winger can do that, and rely too much on spectacular moments which dont always come against good defences.

“Can anyone find the words that I’m trying to say?” “Nah” 😂😂😂
@sama18523 ай бұрын
I think the words might be efficient and functional. Some of the caution about Saka may be that he is the modern possession footballer who doesn't take the risks of wingers from a different era, perhaps, Robben or others. And, yet, he is hailed by Arsenal fans as being great, when he plays within himself for the good of the team and tactics. However, this maybe says more about the modern game than particularly about Saka. There are not many wingers that perform mazy dribbles or try outrageous passes or shots. The modern winger will pass the ball backwards more times than forwards, in some games. And still have a good game.

the squad will either look like 2 11’s or an 11 with 9 on the bench that involve top quality players. Aaron, Partey, ESR, Eddie, Nelson have the most potential to leave out of a 25 man squad we are left with 17 players which leaves 3 openings for an 11 with 9 on bench needing a mid and someone on the bench who can play up front and mid or that bench job is given to Kai and a new striker comes in to start (one of Zinch, Kiwior would have to leave for calfuoir) or a starting mid and another mid and striker for the squad to make 2 11’s. After that you could operate on a one out one in basis

I actually genuinely like what jordan said about saka being more boasty. The look foden had on his face after he hit the post from that 25 yard yamal type curler was the face of a guy saying "that was good, but i always do better" maybe jordan answered the question the boys had at the beginning. Maybe the reason why the media turn to saka to be benched before bellingham foden and kane is because those 3 show their confidence and arrogance more often, so fans want them to back their chat. Even palmer has shown his arrogance after only one season

Saka is already at the level of the best players in the world there is literally no other winger other than Salah that keeps Saka in the dirt statswise. When it comes to big moments I hear why that maybe is the difference between Vini and Saka although it must be said that Vini learnt and took advantage of a winning organization whilst Saka has to be the trailblazer. Also Saka has had big moments too. So ofcourse there is room for improvement but let it be clear that factual/statistically there aren’t many wingers better then Saka. He is already there!

If you look at other elite wingers like Mbappe, Vini etc they don’t track back to the touch line, they tack in to a DM position. Saka can’t afford to do step overs, dribbles etc because he has to conserve his energy to track all the way back to the touch line.
