Literally was trying to understand the NBA Salary Cap this week. Thank you for making my homework easy ✅
@yawfrimpong67162 ай бұрын
So, basically, if you're rich enough, there is no salary cap?
@SportsBuildingАй бұрын
Sort of… there’s still going to always be a limit on how much you can offer individual players, or whether it becomes financially feasible to actually keep exceeding the tax. Not to mention the most expensive team isn’t always the best since some teams give out crazy contracts just to meet the minimum 90% threshold.

Thank you for breaking down the luxury tax also well! 💯....maybe you can do a video next on the evolution of sports broadcasting/streaming.

The top rugby union club competition of England has a salary cap, often broken by Saracens.

No mention of the second apron...

Good explanation, but c'mon, at least using some recent and current examples like Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns

How does the NBA go broke? Not possible. I like this.

European soccer needs to reduce its cost with a salary cap. Only way it's going to be sustainable, they basically on this dumb high cost more debt circle. And their big solution right now is increasing the number of games instead of reducing cost.

The Premier League would be better with a salary cap.
@lorenzomartinez85433 ай бұрын
This is only legal because it's collectively bargained. You're not gonna get that in the PL, or in european soccer even. TBH it might not even be legal under european competition law.

It only works in American sports because teams operate under the franchise model rather than the club model
@nevilleachero80543 ай бұрын
@@TheRedBaron1917 that is not true. In Europe, multiple club ownership is allowed, which negatively affects competition.
@TheRedBaron19173 ай бұрын
@nevilleachero8054 Multi club ownership has literally nothing to do with American sports being run under a franchise model and why a salary cap would never work in the prem. You have no idea what you're talking about. In America you have the franchise model where owners are granted a defacto monopoly over their region or territory. That's why no risk from relegation or promotion because its a closed system. It's a completely different from the club model which has predominanted football since time immemorial and it's part of the reason why mls by using the American franchise model will only ever be lucky enough to get players like Messi at the end of their careers. So no thanks, we don't want your salary cap or your half time shows or your all star games.

@@TheRedBaron1917 no it doesn't. The French Top 14 and Pro D2 operate with salary caps and they are the best and most sustainable 1st and 2nd divisions of rugby in Europe.
