When the inventory management really sucked though was when I tried to do an adventuring playthrough without a stationary base, playing like this is impossible without mods because of inventory overflow if you don't have shulkers yet. The only hiccup I encountered was the buckets disappearing from the burning unloader. Thankfully, I remembered a shulker unloader from ilmango's 1.17snapshot mass crafter, and so far I've not noticed any issues. cubicmetre: early game also cubicmetre: wither skeleton skull, and many shulker boxes ..... super cool, obviously, but i suspect there's concepts from these things that could be applied in simpler situations, but i'm still having trouble doing so i kinda wish there were some "system", that could be started from the very first double-chest planted on the ground and grow *with* the player (or world) and over time *become* something more appropriate for end-game. Something with transitional phases, as new resources become easier to obtain, and can be added onto as needed, rather than built all at once in one sitting, and then building some entirely separate new thing once that's outgrown.

I probably should have demonstrated an alternative method to align the carts, if you instead drop them onto slabs you can use stairs to get the 1/2 block alignment. You can also instead of using shulker boxes just dump items directly into the water streams and avoid using boxes completely.

@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
A shulker box with items in it will drop all of it's items if it is killed by any means which would normally destroy an item entity. So throwing a box in lava, blowing it up with TnT, or throwing it at a cactus will all destroy the box and force it to drop all of it's items.

Brother, please help me understand at 19:50 when you try the sticky piston to extend the minecarts YOUR carts stay up! But when I try it they stay only for a short time and fall down :( I have no idea how to fix it... I downloaded your world and on singleplayer it works fine... but on the server the one I built it doesn't stay up so they don't suck up items! Only 8 items on activation.. maybe its because I play on Paper SMP?
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
This definitely sounds like the kind of shenanigans that Paper would cause. You might need to make a few modifications to the box unloader. To start with you will need to remove the 4 hoppers above the carts and replace the hopper below the comparator with an iron trapdoor, you can then place the comparator back on this trapdoor. Then take the piston opposite the comparator along with the two observers above the piston and move that ciruit to a new side. The side opposite to this piston you will need to place an iron trapdoor, above this trapdoor we will make a water stream to carry empty boxes away from the unloader. So for the next few steps make sure to enclose the loader and make sure the water flows over an edge away from the system so it doesn't flow into the unloader. Hopefully this fix should let it work on paper.

Putting this in the response section, in case it's already fixed, or the problem is on my side. Would love to ask you directly before posting, but as I don't know where to do that, here we go: After messing around int he world edit, I'm pretty sure I understand everything done in this build. However, there's one thing I'm a bit lost on: I had some loss of items in the non stackable items section. I saw that some items were getting stuck under the filters because you forgot a glass block under the build, but that's not enough to explain the loss I'm getting. After placing the glass back, I put in 8 shulkers worth of non stackable items, and I got 7 shulkers + 11 into the system. I found that 3 items was stuck on the composter at the destination (easily fixed with another piece of glass) but the last 13 items I have no idea where they went. It's not a problem when putting a few items into the system, but when a shulker's worth of non stackable items gets thrown into the system at once, I get some loss. Tested on all 3 builds along the redstone square just in case, and this is a problem at all of them. They were all filled with items already, so there should be no loss because other slots needed to be filled. I don't think it's often I place down even a single shulker worth of non stackable items, but for the times I do, this will be a problem. (It also happens with the sulkerboxes themselves as well. And yes, I have also counted the items inside the hoppers in the storage system itself) Do you have any idea where the last few items are getting lost?
@cubicmetre3 жыл бұрын
Those items may not be lost but instead simply delayed, I have used simple impulse filters which detect the higher signal strength of an unstackable and briefly unlock a hopper below to separate them. This hopper is then locked again before it has the chance to push the unstackable it collected. However when the next unstackable comes along it will take it's place. So when you first run the storage you will find that some unstackables are caught up in the unstackable filters. There is also a chance that if you unload the unstackable sorters while they are running they can misplace items meaning an unstackable appears in the stackable overflow. However this misplacement does not break anything. If you want to avoid this caching of the unstackables you could replace the dropper in the filter for each slice of the overflow with a hopper so that the items trickle all the way down to the bottom.
@OGwold3 жыл бұрын
@@cubicmetre looks like there's more than one item in the filters at once, yes. I checked a bunch of hoppers, but the problem was from some of the hoppers in the middle of the row. I'm honestly unsure if this is all the missing pieces, but this system is a tiny bit more advanced than I'm used to so I'm just blindly going to trust you on this one :p This is what I get for expecting redstone to work properly! Seeing this is just a problem if I put in a shulker worth of non stackable items ++, this is really not a problem. Just wanted to look into it in case it was an oversight. Thx!
@exisfohdr39043 жыл бұрын
Non stackable otems can be sorted, sorta. Placing a comparitor on the output of a hopper or dropper can detect a difference between a single stackable item or a non stackable item. The output will be a 1 redstone strength signal for stackable items, and a 2 redstone signal for non stackable items. It does require processing individual items in a hopper at normal hopper speed. A brewing stand can pick out potions, but not sort them by potion type.
@beautifulnova60883 жыл бұрын
You can also sort armor from other nonstackables by attempting to dispense them onto an armor stand and then routing based on whether it succeeded or not.

ahd the same idea about teh dolphin, but had issues about how to place it so it would return the items into the stream and not play with them forever. so this was somewhat useful

This is awesome, hope next thing will be this together with the multi item encoder. Im not smart enough to merge those two. :)

Boyenn has already gone and made a much simpler solution than the encoded MIS for doing parallel entity item sorting.

@@cubicmetre Cool unloaders, but wasent what i was thinking. I want the encoded MIS next to the dolfin item sorter. So i have a chest for oak, spruce ect. for all the random stuff like stairs and slabs, ect. So i only have a minimum of stuff going into the overflow chests. :)

@@kimseverinsen6130 I was thinking about this too. The solution seems to be to sort those items in a seperate system after they get rerouted from the main canal.
