Reggie you 100% nailed about why The Chronic (1992) started to chart again. I was 14 when The Chronic 2001 came out and my father who was 31 at the time took me to Coconuts and picked me up the original Chronic on cassette. Changed my musical life forever!

I remember when the Chronic first came out the CD was sold in a tall box. I had that Chronic first release CD,the Mo Money Soundtrack and Kris Kross totally Krossed out album was my first Rap Albums I owned at 11 yrs old lol. My older sister had to purchase the Chronic CD at Warehouse music at Florin Mall in Sacramento due to the parental advisory sticker on the chronic cover. My mom found out about the lyrics and broke the CD in half lol I had to get my cousin to let me record it on cassette from his his own CD lol. Man those was the memories the golden era of hiphop and when Death Row was dominating

The chronic was the first rap album that I played from start to end . I think the reason why every body purchased the chronic when 2001 was released it was because Cali rap and sound was back on the map . Every body was nostalgic of the DR era .

It can be spun however someone tries to spin things in Suge's favor and try too ALWAYS make Suge come out looking good, but the fact of the matter is, before Kanye's most recent bag fumble, Suge was probably one of the top bag fumblers in the music business EVER, and that fact is not in dispute. We all can respect what Suge did in the business, who he put on and everybody he helped, but the end result is indisputable.

Wow. Dre and liza(big Puns wife) won their masters back the same way! Fat joe didn’t have even 4 million dollars to pay her that he owed her and LOST THE MASTERS TO BIG PUN, for FAILURE TO REPORT AND PAY ANY ROYALTIES FOR PUN TO HIS NEXT OF KIN OR WIFE AND KIDS! Joe is incredibly the foulest guy in hip hop! To act like an artist is dead so the economic obligation to him is over? I never heard of this type of a trial where the JUDGE IS SO SHOCKED AT HOW CROOKED THE CONTRACT IS THAT HE TALKING LIKE HE WAS LIZAS ATTORNEY! I mean a contract right out of a comedy movie. Joe Gave her a few dollars (less than a mill) and then PUBLICLY TOLD HER TO GET A JOB, all the while him and jellybean WAS COLLECTING MILLIONS, but didn’t feel like paying her. Y he ain’t CANCELED LIKE SUGE? Let a new Puerto Rican take his old spot!

"Due to a legal provision outlined in the 1976 Copyright Revision Act, artists whose albums were released in the year 1978 and afterward all become eligible to file paperwork with the U.S. Copyright Office allowing them to reclaim ownership of their music copyrights and master recordings from their record labels after a period of 35 years. However, since the first batch of these recordings became eligible for reverting ownership in 2013, comparatively few artists have gone through this process allowing them reclaim ownership of their music. Ever wonder why that is? For starters, most labels don't publicize if and when their artists do end up reclaiming their masters. For legal reasons, the labels avoid publicly discussing copyright negotiations with their artists - especially their top-tier talent - but there's a business reason as well. According to Billboard, Nielsen Music's metrics on overall music consumption for 2016 showed that past catalog consumption grew to a whopping 66.2 percent of major labels' total revenue intake last year. Therefore, the numbers indicate it is simply not in the labels' interest to gain a reputation for being pushovers when it comes to music ownership. To put a finer point on it: "We are not in the business of giving our masters back to artists," as one major-label executive told Billboard."

Dr Dre is the best producer in Hip Hop history . His best work is Eazy Duz It , Straight Outta Compton , No One Can Do it Better , Living Like Hustlers , Niggaz4Life , The Chronic , and Doggy Style . All these projects were mixed and produced by Dre no matter who played drums or guitar he put the finishing touch on it . Image him getting a chance to produce the Ice Cube and MC REN solo albums I think that would have been crazy .

@@maddpropzno way none of them are above dre. The reason is bc a producer is more than a beat maker, he/she’s a producer. They hear what is needed and find it. The original demo for gin and juice was damn near goofy. If u hear the hook it’s no way that’s a hit record. Dre took it, re worked it and made that mothafucka magic. He might have got somebody else to play the guitar and drums, but who in their sane mind cld hear the original and not scrap it completely lol, let alone take it from that to what we hear on snoop’s album. Amazing
@moosebiggzify
@moosebiggzify Жыл бұрын
@@maddpropz it’s essentially when u get to that level, u literally can’t create every single project that awaits u. U have to delegate at that point. One, u literally wld be overwhelmed , and two, it allows u to keep evolving and learning and stay relevant to the sound. You’re no longer making just a chronic or nwa album. U got a label of platinum artists who want and depend on ur production as well as industry stars outside of your label who want your services. It wld be a disservice to them to do all of that work and water down what makes your sound unique. 50 cent, slim shady , snoop , k dot and on and on. All of their projects production sound unique and that’s better than having dope beats from a to z without much contrast. Also timbaland gotta be mentioned in that debate along with Dre quik and whomever else.

All I'm going to say is that I don't think Reggie is lying but, there's some missing pieces that he didn't bring up that's very important in regards to this discussion regarding Dre currently owning the copyrights to The Chronic album. There's a few errors in this some of the claims from Reggie and I have proof. I've mention much of this in previous videos discussion ownership of The Chronic album as well those 2Pac albums. Stay tuned. I'll be on here in like 40 minutes in the comments.

Reggie's on point with the majority of the things he says. You can't fault a man that actually lived thru the peak of greatness and the downfall add covid etc.. and expect him to remember everything to a perfect measure. He's not malicious or aggressive he's just reminiscing to the best of his ability. To be as sharp as he is ,is a breathe of fresh air.

You're talking to the person (Reggie) who help ran Death Row Records company itself of course he knows about the Chronic payments.methods, the company was living off that album as the foundation

@@goodymob9638 Reggie did more than work there he was a police officer and PAC was out in million dollar bond. I'm a retired bailbondsman and I can tell you at any time Reggie could've turned PAC in and had him violated for smoking ganja and hanging out with gang members that violates the bond agreement and Reggie stayed 10 toes down for death row.

🔥 IT'S TRUE🔥@Reggie Wright Jr It's called a Reversion Clause that was enacted under the 1976 Copyright Act. Any music released after 1978 can qualify. After 35 years the original artist can file a legal motion to have the publishing and copyright of music reverted back to them even if they outright sold all rights.
