My best friend and I played DQMJ2 played so much together. Eventually we both got Japanese 3ds handhelds with DQMJ3 Profesional just to play the new version. All 3 games are amazing. Wish we would have gotten Joker 2 Profesional in the States. Joker 3 Profesional was such a good end to the series. Plus riding any monster of any size was a super cool feature. The monster series completely blows Pokémon out of the water in my opinion.
@hannariel5 ай бұрын
Joker 3 would be the best DQM game if SQEX didn't nerfed the animations of the monsters and having more unique monsters... recolors of the same monster are too much in this game, it's awful... Detail: DQMJ3P still have less monsters than in DQM2 remake, it's ridiculous. Also I agree 100% with the Pokemon part.

Since I've never been a fan of the Monsters series,, I read "Dragon Quest Monsters" in the title and immediately though you were going to talk about the monsters, the enemies. But I stayed until the end.
@christaylor863 ай бұрын
In regards to when you spoke about how each player will see a monster a different way, that's what I love most about these games. Monsters retain their identities through their traits and some stat growth, but other than that it's fair game. Your teams were so different than mine during the battle scenes you showed, and that sort of freedom and wonder when approaching the machine to synthesise, not knowing what this new level 10 monster is gonna be able to make, is unmatched. Edit; Ha, as soon as I'd typed that comment you spoke about the traits and stats.

Hey, while I really enjoyed your video, just a bit of constructive feedback: I missed some more info regarding the games’s plots. Maybe it’s because of the plot being a bit thin in these DQ Monsters games, but it would be cool to know more about the game plot.

DQM Joker & Joker 2 got me into Dragon Quest, the amount of customisation we got for the monsters is still so impressive and baffling and you could tell the developers knew that when they made the professional versions. My goal in every DQM game was always to create the most ridiculous god monster that could disintegrate the post game bosses XD. Also ive never seen DQ Joker in HD and now i've never felt older.

Fun fact: people credit Joker for replacing the breeding system with the synthesis system, in the Japanese version it was actually still called breeding. The weird polarity symbols were just regular gender symbols, it was simply a revamp of breeding rather than something entirely new. It's unknown why the localisation decided to make such a big change. Perhaps they felt the system had changed so much it needed a new name? Or perhaps it was a resistance to the idea of neutral genders being an option? That one seems unlikely to me though, as Pokémon already had genderless legendaries at this point.
@Bunni894 ай бұрын
Another more funny fact: ever wonder why the heck the series is called Joker? Its cos the Incarnus's final form was originally called Joker in Japanese. No clue why the translators changed it, we now miss out on like.. the entire reason for the title, lol

I purchased a copy of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker... over a month ago at this point (in its case, with the manual, too. Got excited when I saw it in my local store). I've literally been holding off on playing it because I was waiting for your video on it to finally come out. ... okay, fine, I'll admit, I got a LITTLE impatient and have already played the first 30-45 minutes and caught, like...6...-ish monsters. But beyond that, I've been waiting for this video to come out. And I'm really excited to jump in!
