How Dragonriding Works in House of the Dragon!

In our final video from Adam's visit behind the scenes of House of the Dragon, we visit the special effects workshop where Special Effects Supervisor Michael Dawson shows Adam the different platforms fabricated by his team to allow actors to ride dragons on the show! From the Stewart platform used for Game of Thrones to a new 3-axis hydraulic-powered motion base that can be controlled on location, Michael describes the shooting requirements for these rigs and Adam stands on one to get a sense of the range of motion of these massive platforms!

Witcher and Rings of Power could have hired them as well, but instead they decided quality wasn't what they wanted to spend a billion dollars on. We can argue about script choices for GOT and LOTR but set and costumes were on point! acting too. So such vids are a joy. Ty Adam for sharing, I loved watching this.

Dawson's comment about another production essentially insulting him whilst wanting him/them to do stuff for their show or whatever I think is why companies shouldn't be getting rid of the dvd/blu-ray BTS extras and more studios should be showing off the amazing effects teams that help make all these things happen!

Or at least show them off in videos such as this one. Because that's some great advertisement! House of the dragon was not really on my radar. I mean I knew it existed, but probably wouldn't have watched it. But after seeing this I am definitely going to. Even if everything else sucked about it those marvelous props, effects and attention to detail would be worth it.

Very Cool Platform.. Moves without an pump, just uses a circular system and the uses it's own weight that feeds off itself to move like a puppet. . Genius ! Bravo!! Just think of the Effects they could have done on the movie Jaws if they had that Teck back then,

Annoyed that dragons do not follow laws of scaled dynamics. Imagine a jumbo jet flying by flapping is wings. The movements would be 1/10 of that depicted in House of Dragons. Why Hollywood always does that, and why there is no general outcry?
