PMCs are expensive and you would end up with a war there because poachers would be fighting for their lives when encountering PMCs. Now they have 3 options: 1) surrender and ask for lighter sentence 2) try to flee and get a somewhat harsher 3) fight, risking their lives as well as eventually getting caught and having a book thrown at them. If you let people hunt poachers you significantly reduce viability of options 1 and 2.

One thing that increased populations of these endangered animals was selective hunting, with the proceeds going to local communities, national parks, education programs, etc. When the local communities had a monetary stake in which more animals equaled more hunts equaled more money, populations increased. While I realize hunting endangered animals is anathema to many, and drones might become a viable option; I look at all options when it comes to preserving these animals for the future.

I am sitting here thinking about all the crazy things to put inside these drones to fight poaching... A rabid squirrel. Angry bees. Bed bugs. UV Dye and meat juice to attract predators and make for easier tracking. Fire ants. Confetti with really sharp edges. Put a spear on the front end of the drone and see how many poachers you can skewer. A super strong laser that only goes for the fingers, removing the capability to fire a weapon. They could keep their thumbs, I guess. Last but not least, the drone flies down real low and releases itching powder.

Suggest use of solar cells to maximise flight time of the drones; use of sound technology to emit high pitched sounds before landing to drive away animals and poachers alike should warranted but used sparingly; if possible the drones can also be fitted with mini tranquilliser or taser to become party to an armed conflict with poachers

what we need to do is invest in artificial in other words for its purpose fake undetectable counterfeit animal products. it wont stop as long as there's money to be made. Animal products are expensive because their rare but even more so because of the black market which makes it even harder to get. This makes it worthwhile to engage in poaching esp when in a poor country with limited opportunities. Also education, start teaching children that their is no such thing as magic and that these animals dont have healing powers and any meds from an organism can be artificially produced.

We can design and deploy drones for warfare, even if this guy got a fraction of that tech or funding he would be well advanced. Some armed forces have completely silent drones that make zero noise, these are already in play, not to mention drones which can be armed from the air. I’m sure corruption plays a role here and implicates progress. But when these animals are gone they are gone forever ultimately everyone then loses.

@@latioswarr3785 unfortunately we don't, at least partially due to unethical hunting. If you start farming elephants and rhinos for tusks and horns; poaching will disappear and your population of elephants and rhinos will increase in the wild. The farm also have a reason to the protect their livestock. Additionally, Their is no value currently stopping poaching. It is all expense and risk and no tangible reward to use technologies or teams. Use economics to save endangered species not force. Seeker you are smarter than that. This goes for most threaten or endangered species on land or water.
