I was stationed in Japan when I was in the Navy. I made port calls there too. This was back in the 1990's. I had big muscles that fascinated many Japanese women - and some Japanese men. I remember Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip ice cream from the Navy Exchange was a hit with the women, as was alcohol on other occasions. I didn't waste too much time scouring Roppongi, but I did have success playing judo at a local dojo where I earned a brown belt. Hiking Mount Fuji also gained me female attention. Japanese kids often wanted to practice English and learn profanities. I found that if I was nice to the kids their older sisters and aunts would introduce themselves. I found Japanese women were very direct and usually made the first move. Maybe things are different now?

I have lots of experience in China and SE Asia as a businessman. Strangely, I have never been to Japan but have dealt with Japanese regularly (especially in China). I find the Japanese language especially difficult to learn. I am a 'western' white guy and think Japanese women are the most attractive in SE Asia. They seem more cultured and demure. This is especially attractive to 'western guys' as we have been under attack by our own culture endlessly. As I said, I do business in Asia, and am fortunately enough, only date Asian women. I won't go through the drama of dating women from my home country. They are too fat, too promiscuous, too loud, and too entitled. People have this impression of Asian women being backwards, uneducated, and submissive.That's ridiculous. I feel relaxed and non competitive with Asian women. I had the notion that Japanese women are all too cold, sexless, too uninterested for non Japanese. I found out that they are all like us. Of course they kept their distance at the initial stage but slowly open up. Once they have accepted you there's just no limit to their affection. There is a huge attraction in the United States and other Western countries between Japanese/Korean/ women and western men. There is a running joke with my friends that I don't attract white women on dating apps (this isn't true haha). In most of the cases, when I was in a relationship, they'd mention having issue dating someone from their own ethnicity. Western men are seen as more affectionate. Whether this is true or not, is a completely other story. My last GF was from Seoul and was getting her PhD in the states. She mentioned the expectations of dating and luckily for her, her parents got to the point where they just wanted her to be happy and wouldn't mind that I was white. Not that she was easy (she just thought that was how it was), but she was one to think that the first date meant sex. She actually cried on her first and second date with me because we went out for dates and I didn't push or expect sex. I asked her what her first dates were like with the one other American guy and the couple of Korean guys that she dated and she said it involved her driving to their place. I think there is a sexual awakening in a lot of these countries and sometimes, it makes it seem like having sex on the first date is a give in or the general idea of wanting to make men happy.

I have to disagree. I'm an early-mid 30's white guy from California, I'm in Baywatch shape, look like a Hollywood actor, have the charisma to match, and speak conversational Japanese. I lived in Japan for 2 years and found Japanese girls to be quite difficult. Whether I met them in bars, clubs, on the street, the train, the gym, grocery store, or even yes, gaijin hunting bars or foreigner meetups, talking with them and getting them giggling was always easy, but they never wanted to leave with me or get together. I did see other guys leave with girls pretty easily though, so it's entirely possible that my results are unusually bad.
