This was really enlightening. I had to change my mind on Elon Musk. I always thought he was a top down controller, because he has an opinion on everything.

Came in here to do a 3x speed skim to see if I could quickly get some of these concepts. Became fascinated and slowed down to 1x. Great presentation

Joe the very best explanation, as an engineer 44 years in big auto world wide and a factory manager, I designed an enterprise system based on lean got as far as the big screens and data was real time. You need to be an owner to do what Elons done, did see Tesla and got it in 2014, bought the car, bought the shares, retired so in a way it worked for me........Is is the future and no one will catch up.

Wonderful stuff Joe and Stefan, well done. Justice Board, XM principles, Pirate Canvas, and 3D Kanban are clearly related. So are the Agile DNA and the Descaling Manifesto principles - which were themselves based on Holmgren's Permaculture principles. Seems like there's an alignment conversation waiting to happen here!

How did the Musk Model evolve? Is it Elon driving all of the people to work this way? I imagine he guides them but they figure out how to do it? I started calling it Lean 2.0 because they have elevated beyond the great Toyota Production System, but it is much more than that, now I call it the Magic Molecule! Joe, can you post the 15 rules here?

The transcript is awesome! 32:29 Key Performance Indicators are autonomously measured. You ask the employees to self-organize into group work to try to improve these metrics. There was no scrum. There was no scaled agile. There was none of what I would have considered leant. It was group work to try to improve an autonomously measured KPI, a digitally self-managed KPI. That was an experiment towards the Thousand-Year goal. I personally see fingerprints of Agine, Lean and Lean Startup all over the place. Agile uses fast iterative cycles. Lean is all about minimizing lead (start to finish) time, e.g. instant digital KPIs. Equally informed people often agree. Toyota Business Practices 8 Step Problem Solving Method is all about experimenting toward a goal. Lean Startup is all about customer A/B testing. But, I agree that it is a unique selection of all of the them. I could only get transcripts to show in minimum size, The transcript showed up in the far right column.

32:00 yes it really is a big deal. Highlights the monumental inefficiency in traditional structures. And yes, automation is difficult but the payoff when it is done well is huge.

and this is in spite of the transparent and ongoing media attempts to derail everything he does!

Instead of 1000 year goal I would make a 100 year goal. Thats 3-4 generations. Still a lot.
