They Voted on removing him from the chairman, not CEO, it was only to effectively reduce his complete control of the company as the chairman is supposed to be the representative of investors. At this point though I think it's safe to say it wasn't even close as there was no media coverage after the start of the vote. Elon Musk is the driving Force behind all 4 of his companies and without him, they would struggle a lot more, that combined with a ton of shared assets between the companies makes them a lot more robust in this market. I think it's important to remember none of these companies advertise, Elon is the one making people buy Cars, Flamethrowers, Hats, Rockets, and tunnels. Plus it's almost impossible to remove him from his CEO and/or chairman position in all of them.

If you know about business you know about cost (selling price - production cost - selling cost = what you get) It's often surprising how big the selling cost are for major company. I don't particularly like Tesla's business practices of trying to turn vehicle ownership into a service. But I have a lot of respect for the man and what he is trying to do with space travel. Discoveries and innovations up there, make us all better off down here. Although his recent actions really diminish that respect.
