@RelearnMath7 жыл бұрын

@daderall7 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend that most people graduating into good paying jobs out of college not put a large sum of their income towards depreciating assets. I was lucky to land a job at about 110k/year out of college working in the nuclear industry and in the 3 years I've been in the field I've set aside 120,000 into savings. That money is making me roughly 7,000-8,000$/yr through investments on top of my earnings from work and it just keeps growing. Compound interest works wonders and can build a pretty massive nest egg with the right saving patterns. I totally understand the satisfaction of buying nice things for yourself and respect your decision to spend your money however you want though.

Hi Kyle, Thanks for advice!
@jonathan13915447 жыл бұрын
Kyle Link i agree, but if you do wanna buy something like a ferrari then it can work out to get something 10years old or older, because it depreciates very slowly at that point, or sometimes even increases in value. But there will be maintenance costs.
@XxRC23xX7 жыл бұрын
If you don't mind me asking, what did you major in and where do you invest your money? I'll be graduating soon and I'd like to make wise financial decisions like you.
@tygervoods83587 жыл бұрын
KeyboardWarrior True, but buying a Ferrari is a huge investment. Buying a brand new or a few year old Ferrari is a lot better as to buying an older Ferrari model. They do depreciate like hell usually but then the maintenance bills and resell is hard af.

Engineering can be very rewarding. Some of the things to take into account when we look at money, however, is the location, experience, industry, company, etc. A Civil Engineer in NYC won't get paid the same as one from Peora, IL. In general, assuming there are no loans, or big debts to pay off from attending school or living up the college lifestyle and you're responsible with your money, engineering salaries are good to lay the ground for a good future.

This bothers me soo mush...because unlike european contries or america ,engineers in my country get payed around 600$....a month...that is if they were lucky enough and have enough connections to land a job...as a engineering student in a developing country i feel very discouraged that the best i can probebly do in life with any sort of mentality or effort will be almost the same as if i dont..just doing some lame job in some lame facility dreaming of what i couldv done if i was born in other countries. Its even really hard to go outside and living in a new country out of scratch and with no relations is semi impossible Niether the less instead of complaining i do love engineering both mecanical and software engineering ..and i do wish you the best of luck in the future! This turned out to be a longer text than i had anticipated..
@RelearnMath7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kilua, When I made these videos, I didn't realize the huge gap in income between the US( and European Countries) and other parts of the world. I understand where you are coming from, as I myself spent some years in a different country. What I can tell you is that a lot of large US companies have sections all over the world(possibly your country as well) and I know several of my coworkers transferred to the US from other parts of the world because they worked hard where they were at. Managers recognized their hard work and they managed to move to the US and made as much as the average here. Another key point to keep in mind is that the cost of living here (silicon valley) is crazy expensive, so salary has to be adjusted. Otherwise everyone would move out of here. Don't think that your hard work won't be rewarded. Thanks for your support man! Good Luck!

Only thing I can say would be google about "real engineering jobs" and what they really do at work. You may try to contact with companies or people already in the field. Then decide on your own. Things shown or told in here or on the internet usually does not represent the real jobs that engineers have. Most do not sit in a lab and design cool stuffs with their hands.

@@RelearnMath Ok, I'm wondering how feasible it would be for me to be able to buy my dream car (Nissan GTR or Porsche 911) with an masters in EE. I figure it will take more than just my income, so I'm looking into various options like real estate investing, index funds, and Forex trading.

Marcos Fernandez after a few years you should be making well over 100k. Financed and in terms of a monthly payment, Engineers could definitely do it...but the question is....is it wise? Would you rather save up for a house, invest in the stock market or maybe start a family...all that is going to be up to you. So yes you could make the payment but it will have an opportunity cost associated with it...you might hold yourself back from building wealth by buying one.

@@RelearnMath True, if anything I would go in the used market since depreciation is swift with those type of cars. I definitely don't want it to hold me back financially, but those are the type of things you can only really enjoy when you're young. Thanks for you're input, your videos are super helpful and inspiring.
