The photo you showed of inventor Arthur Scherbius is wrong. You show the photo of Marian Rejewski not Arthur.

Thanks this will help me understand the upcoming novel “The Bletchley Riddle” by Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin. I really found your video insightful for reading the book clearly!

This simulation isn't fully accurate. The first thing the operator had to do was install the correct rotors as indicated by the setting sheet. The army Enigma (if I remember right) had 5 possible rotors. 3 of the 5 were chosen and then installed in the order indicated by the setting sheet. Adjusting the rotors to show indicated letters was actually determining the ring setting. As far as I know it was up to the sender to change the ring settings for each message sent and then include the setting in the message so the receiver would know how to set up his own machine. Different ring settings for each message was supposed to enhance the security of the Enigma machine, but due to carelessness or laziness most senders would change the ring settings by only a letter or two. This gave code breakers an edge when it came to deciphering messages sent by a given individual.

Great! What are the Rotors used in the example I, II, III ?

Hi! Thanks for the comment! Good question! I actually have used randomly generated rotor wirings for all the three rotors in this particular example.

I couldn't watch this, the AI monotone voice is awful. Also, whoever wrote the script should go back and check some of their facts.
