Join Dr. Lukin and Timothy Meyer in this insightful KZbin video as they delve into the world of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and its transformative effects on patients suffering from trauma, anxiety, and phobias. EMDR is an innovative psychotherapy technique that assists individuals in healing from traumatic events and distressing life experiences by enabling them to re-process memories and release negative emotions through rapid, rhythmic eye movements.
At the Lukin Center, our team of dedicated professionals has successfully guided hundreds of EMDR patients on their journeys to relief from deep-rooted emotional and psychological stress. Although EMDR is a relatively novel and non-traditional form of therapy, it is recognized by the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization, and the Department of Defense as an effective treatment for trauma. Our clinicians are specially trained in the integration of EMDR with traditional talk therapy or medication to provide comprehensive, customized care.
In this video, you will learn how EMDR therapy delves into a patient's past to process painful life events and memories. By using bilateral stimulation, our clinicians address the difficulties and discomfort associated with current and future problems, such as anxiety related to an upcoming flight or public speaking engagement.
The EMDR process can be likened to 'playing an event like a movie.' When a patient experiences discomfort at a certain point, the 'movie' is paused, and EMDR techniques are employed to help the individual process the mental image. The ultimate goal is to reduce the disturbance level to zero, allowing the patient to mentally navigate potential high-stress moments with ease. This process is repeated until all discomfort has been addressed.
Throughout the therapy, our top priority is to ensure the patient remains safe, grounded, and comfortable. Watch this video to gain a deeper understanding of how EMDR can positively impact the lives of those grappling with trauma, anxiety, and phobias, and learn how the Lukin Center can help you or a loved one embark on the path to healing.

Can you please make a video about using EMDR for sex related problems? I feel like it would have something special about these kind of problems.

It works online or virtually, it’s a bilateral stimulation even with eye movement software or tapping left - right you will be able to reprocess memories-

you would do self-bilateral stimulation rather than the therapist doing it for you if it's via zoom or telehealth, but it is still effective

Emdr telehealth therapist here! It works just as effectively as in person EMDR however some people just prefer it in person. But still effective regardless. I use eye movements, tones or tapping pending on client preference.

@@TaquitoDeAsada first of all understanding flight or fight and that its just adrenaline helps. Also you need to replace the bad thoughts/ experiences with new and better ones. So you have to do things youre scared of. Yes its hard. Im not recovered but yesterday i sat at a terrace for a short period of time. For me thats a huge Improvement. But if EMDR helped? Yes a bit. I dont know my root cause so we tried emdr on multiple things. If you know what the root cause is, it should work really well. I experience less anxiety tho. Worked a bit i guess. You gotta do the exposure tho

@@vincentolivieri4468 you're very kind for answering. I truly appreciate it. I have good days and not so good days. Sometimes all I have learned helps and sometimes it doesn't. I take medication but I really wish I could have the strength to not medicate anymore.

@@TaquitoDeAsada me too. Sometimes good and sometimes bad. We should also do exposure in the days as feel bad but its so difficult than. Medication could be useful to do exposure and get those new and good experiences. I had medication once to go to the dentist. See the positives😊 Was stuck at home for months. Flight or fight kicked in as soon as i left the door. We gotta keep going. Everyone feels anxiety, we are just more sensitive and dont know how to handle it that well.

I’ve been hesitant to try this because after over a decade of living with severe generalized anxiety disorder, I do not know my root cause. I’ve been to therapy (psychologist and psychiatrist), counselling, hypnotherapy, endless medications and I’m just getting worse
